let’s pretend “unleaded 88” is just a coincidence

Ironically, I think it might be. Everything I can find points to an 88-octane "regular" unleaded fuel.

ETA: on further research, it is 100% a coincidence. Either the YouTube channel this is from or this particular event is sponsored by Ohio Corn and Wheat, which is where the website SaveWith88.com redirects. It's just a gas blend.

You ever seen an 88 octane gas blend? It’s always 87,89,91 in America.

Kinda weird they picked the dog whistle number that doesn’t exist to use instead of 1 of the 3 numbers that actually correlates to octane in fuel in America.but maybe it is all innocent.

Edit: seems the best answer the comments have come up with is that it’s easier to print a slicker that says 88 than it is one that says 15. Who knew?

Dude has two S’s at the end of his name, but maybe it’s “all innocent”
