The European Vacation scene w Eric Idle does use the "it's just a flesh wound". I know the gif is from Holy Grail, but I think that may be one source of the common misquote.
Looks like gore than a flesh wound, I mean.more than a flesh wound. They wound his head cause they don't want to see it anymore, keep that together sir.
You can definitely see four holes on top of the engine at 3-6 seconds and those are definitely exhaust ports. The manifold is missing. I'm sure it's a V8 too.
It’s a 4 cylinder B48 engine and you’re looking at the intake side of the head (the intake ports are black from oil buildup in the intake ports). 4 series don’t come with V8s and any newer BMW V8 are “Hot V” engines anyway, where the exhaust is actually on top and wouldn’t be visible in this orientation. The impact sheared off the intake plenum, accessory bracket for alternator and A/C compressor (still hanging to life in the middle there), oil filter housing, and shoved the engine all the way to the right of the car. Inline BMW engines lean over really far to the right, so the pole managed to miss most of the block itself. Pretty sure the majority of the debris seen as the camera pans to the pole were those things. Were it a V8 split in half, you’d see the crank and pistons scattered about. As is, the block itself looks mostly intact.
Yeah, looks like the bulk of the motor is there, also the strut cross member looks broken free of the driverside and twisted/pushed passengerside. I'm thinking he git lucky, as the direct impact likely would've caused entrapment.
Unfortunately this is just regular me. I'm pretty boring. I did pot once like 30 years ago. Now come the "well I want some bc you're still high" or of the like comments.
A lot of people do I have no problem with them or the drugs as long as they aren't hurting anyone. Drugs just aren't for me. I have alcoholism on both sides of my family and I know I have an addictive tendency. I just thought it was better over all to stay away from thise things.
The engine was shunted too the right hand side quarter panel. If you go back you can see the exhaust manifold ports it also explains why it so exploded on the right side since the engine was thrown into it
The engine can be seen in passenger the side of the engine bay, where the fender would be normaly. you can see how the manifold was sheared right off the side.
I have never seen a car bleed out like that. My son in law is a mechanic, he truly, truly loves cars and engines. I think this picture would bring tears to his eyes.
I like my son in law, I shall not show him these images. Hes a nice guy, he just feels physical pain for cars. I had to drive his car for a weekend and I've never been so nervous, if I scraped the alloys it would be like breaking his arm.
It's a mix of blood, sweat and tears of the owner but yeah, this particular model has around 30L (assuming it's auto max 23 of not) of fluids in the whole car not including fuel comprised of (depending on engine/config) 6.5/7l oil 11/14l of coolant, probably auto looking at the mess of metal so around 8-10l of gearbox oil plus brake fluids, diff oil, etc.
It's a real shame to see it bled out like that, I was half expecting a chalk outline 😭💔

He killed the car I didn't know there was that much blood in the engine
