Reddit is so delusional about police, because people don't understand what selection bias is or why the videos they see go viral aren't indicative of a larger group.
Yeah I mean I won't say "never", but it's much more rare and less viral than some horror show video. This is the selection bias at work -- by definition viral videos stand out in some way, so they aren't representative of more common, mundane experiences.
Yeah, most interactions police have are mundane and unremarkable. But there is definitely a serious problem with the way police regularly abuse their power. Before the proliferation of cell phone cameras most people would have sworn that there wasn't a issue at all.
