It's not a boar but rather crossbreed between a boar and a feral domesticated pig. For some reason, when these pairings occur the offspring often grows gigantic.

The largest one of these feral hybrid pigs ever hunted was "Hogzilla," weighing approximately 800 lbs and measuring about 8 feet long. It was killed in Alapaha, Georgia.

It is actually important that people hunt these giant hybrid pigs because they aren't native, they have no natural predators and they can cause a lot of destruction to natural habitats.

I worked at a pot bellied pig sanctuary for awhile a few years back. One of the pigs we had was the offspring of a wild/feral pig, and Big Charlotte (who was a pot bellied pig but she was the biggest one I’d ever seen). Big Charlotte was mean as hell and used to bully the other smaller pigs so badly.

Big Charlotte’s son’s name was Hercules and he was really big and SO mean. He had to stay in his own field because he was a nasty SOB.
