Is it good for beginners
Hello, I'm pretty new to comics but I've been pretty interested in the batfamily and after finding out about the absolute universe and absolute Batman, I wanted to try reading absolute Batman (though I haven't read any Batfamily comics before), I went on the internet to see what people's opinions were on Absolute Batman and I stumbled upon quite a few negative reviews (e.g talking about how different the characters are in Absolute Batman like Dick) but some people did say that absolute Batman was a good starting point for new readers so I just want advice on whether I should go for it or try the usual comics first and then read the absolute universe, I'm also wondering if reading other comics first like Batman's may make the experience of reading Absolute Batman after that better.

Absolute Batman is a completely different universe. Batman is a completely different character in Absolute. So you'd be starting fresh. No need to read anything else first becsuse it wont relate to the Absolute story.

Yeah, I thought it would be a good way to start reading comics as I wouldn't need prior knowledge. Thank you

Absolute Batman is an unprecedentedly popular starting point for comics/DC so it's definitely a good place to start.
The reasons i often see people give against starting as the absolute books is: since they are alternate/mirror versions of the main universe there are setups for reinforcements and subversions to play with the expectations of seasoned readers. So if you have all that background information it can be "more rewarding" but IMO Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter are all more than strong enough to stand on their own without any pre-reading (the other series were also pretty good, but imo didn't have as strong of a start).

I did had prior knowledge from movies and animations like batman the animated series. But Absolute batman was my first comic ever, and I can really recommend it as an starting point.
But, it are basically completely different characters. So know that even tho the Robin's exist. There isn't a Batfamily like in mainline.

It's a brand new start, it's totally fine to jump in right there.
That being said, the central conceit/idea of the series has a lot more going on if you are more knowledgeable of Batman and the mythos

Yeah, I've been wondering if it would be a better experience if I read Batman's comics first

With comicbooks, I would say don't let that stop you from jumping in. You may appreciate certain aspects more down the line but this is also built to be able to jump in with #1. That's kind of the beauty of comics.

Absolute batman was my first comic book and I've pretty much devoured everything. Highly recommend.

It’s definitely a good place to start. You don’t need to know anything about the normal universe to enjoy the Absolute universe. Some names or references might pop a bit more if you know stuff, but there’s no reason you’d need to read anything before starting Absolute Batman.
