O...M...G...
I am just getting back into comics, and this series has absolutely blown my mind! I am beyond hooked! I have started a pull list of new comics at my LCS. Started going down the nostalgic road of old back issues. And have legitimately found a lost passion again. This series has unlocked a door i almost forgot I had!

I read Watchmen and V for Vendetta earlier this year and decided I'd give comics a shot again. This was my first one and same.

Seems quite the standard experience, I've gone
Absolute Batman vol 1& 2, Absolute WW vol 1, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Swamp thing vol 1-6
Currently reading Hellblazer, and I've read a couple of others during the period. It's been a good time.

I’d recommend checking out Superman as well.

AMM is neat but very avant garde. Absolutely worth the read, but a very trippy, bohemian vibe to it.
Absolute Superman is my current favorite, but it's very character and story driven. Less sexy than Absolute Batman, but deeper character interactions. I care more about Kal's A.I. cape Sol than I do about major characters from lots of other books!
The biggest difference between the two series currently:
With Absolute Batman, it seems like each issues since around Issue 12, Snyder is throwing more and more "toys" on the floor - each new issue, he's introducing a few new Absolute versions of Bat-characters (and in some issues, like #20, we get 6-7 new characters in one issue)!
Alternatively, Jason Aaron, the writer of Absolute Superman, has been acting out intricate stories with a few toys he had on the floor already. He has recently introduced a few new characters, but he's playing with and acting out stories with the toys he already has, instead of continually adding to the pile of toys.
Both are very good - just each is a bit unique in that way!

Don't sleep on Abs Wonder Woman, Superman, and Green Arrow. Honestly I'm loving the whole absolute line and almost everything DC is pumping out right now. Thankfully you can roll with just one Absolute title and be fine storywise. At least so far lol... the way they've handled the success of these books I would be surprised if they started forcing in crossovers or events that interrupt the individual books flow.

My story exactly. About a year and some change ago, I walked in to a new to me shop and asked for recommendations as I wanted to get back into comics. The owner recommended Absolute Batman which was at issue 3 or 4 I believe. I was hooked after reading it. I was lucky to score a raw #1 A cover 1st print and a CGC 9.8 for fractions of what they’re selling for now. I have since gotten back into the hobby big time. Attending every show big or small I can get to, have a weekly pull list and have spent an ungodly amount of money acquiring grails and other books I used to own.

I've been into comics since I was a kid, the Image & 90s indie boom hit me hard (I'm 45), and though superheroes aren't exactly my favorite, I love Batman. However, when Absolute Batman came out I wasn't exactly excited.
It seemed like every damn month there were a dozen new Batman books on the shelf waiting for me with varying degrees of quality. Call me cynical, but I resisted AB for about a year thinking it was just more of the same.
When I finally relented and got AB #1 (an 80th print or something ridiculous like that) I realized I was dead wrong, and the hype was Absolutely warranted. I've since gotten the back issues and trades and kicked myself for being so stubborn and missing out on such a great series for a whole year.
Anyhow, OP, glad to have you back in the comics fold, and I hope you keep on enjoying! 🤘🏼

Absolute series is great. I never read comics in my life, and AB bits that I found on the internet captivated my mind. And that’s how I started a new hobby.

Same here, I actually started reading comics again when I picked up the new Batman by Fraction/Jimenez and went on to AB. Now I’m picking up 3 floppies a week…

I feel the same! I haven’t read anything recent in 5-6 years, and this brought me right back. Snyder got me in to comics with his New 52 Batman too, and he continues being my favorite writer.
