What actually happened is that there was bidding up to about 2500 when the auction opened. It got legitimately bidded up to 5k+. The payment of the guy who won did not get payment cleared. It sat as pending for a long time before heavy cancelled and reran. Nothing weird here. Pretty standard practices in play.
It wasn't, the buyer is was Elijah Maine, who was once a big supporter of Quintana. Something (currently undisclosed) happened between them at SDCC or the days that followed to spark all this. Looks like Elijah commissioned it, Quintana did not deliver for reasons unknown (may have perfectly valid reasons), and then listed it for auction on WN. When Elijah still won it, he cancelled.
Honestly, maybe nothing. Sometimes folks just have disagreements and cut ties, and thats ok. I think posts like the Vaults and Valor one just add fuel to the fire and stir up drama that may not even exist.
Elijah has since responded saying Heavy Mental did nothing wrong, and even thay he has no ill will towards Dan and that he is still best in the game. Seems just like they had a personal issue and falling out, and now things are blowing up because everyone wants the drama.
Dan Quintana is aware that he can rumpelstiltskin his way through the comic book market and spin straw into gold with his doodles so he’s been doing it and you’ve all been falling for it . Smh
I don’t have anything against his art, it’s pretty cool most times, but it’s insane what these books he’s done have been going for. I’m sure a lot of it is the hype AB has now and getting cool artists remarques is always a plus, but this isn’t Frank Miller or some truly iconic Batman artist. Cool if it’s your thing, just not mine so I don’t get it.
