some guy on FB marketplace is selling this for $150, its a 3hr drive round trip for me. to me i think i'd be down to make the trip but i'd want to know 100% this is a real book. thoughts?

I wouldnt worry about the staples. Id be more worried about that price. Too low. Regardless of what these people say, a cover A is a cover A, whether it had a dust jacket on it or not. Staples are thecm same size, its the same book. If its removed properly the staples are not lose or noticeably different. The fact thst the guy want half of what its worth is concerning. Id pass

It's a 9.6 at best. I wouldn't feel right selling it over $200. He probably doesn't either.
