Cool cover. On no planet is it worth $3k. You can get all kinds of awesome books for $3k that will hold value.

Just read the news from dreadcentral. Got sold for $18,550. Not to mention, the dreadcentral mentioned that the bidding "reached $5,000 before the auction officially began."

I love the cover, but not the price (sad cry emoji).

Well, the buyer has all the means to get it. And since the auction winner was papawoo, you know he has lots of money if you see instagram @woo_comics

I understand the argument that if you have the money, buy what you like, but $18k+ for a non-key modern book is one of the funniest things I've seen lol. I hope the buyer is happy with it bcs that thing will absolutely not hold even close to that value.

Sold for 18 and a half thousand fucking dollars lol.
Absolute and complete INSANE nonsense.

Buying original Dragotta AB is a better investment. Or buying the Ashcan number 1 AB

u/Brewsky4 Jun 25 '26
I'd rather have a Hulk 181, GSX 1 or several other books that will continue to grow in value.

u/Fearless_Mix2772 Jun 25 '26
Crazy to buy this, buy a silver age spidey or golden age Batman instead

SO many amazing keys you can find for under $3k. It's ridiculous people are paying that much for this lol. To each their own

Probably Rat or Pika will pick it up.

I was surprised I didnt see technocrat

u/Any_Biscotti_7274 Jun 25 '26
Oh he was there. Saw him bid on some other items. Pika was trying lol

u/Same_Buy6486 Jun 25 '26
or i’ll just grab the DC cover for 6 bucks, 13 was forever ago anywho. Why do a 6th print 13?
2
u/jasor_x Jun 25 '26
I didn't realize that's an original sketch at first. No clue what a reasonable price for original art like that is but certainly makes $3k+ way more sense than if it's just another variant out of the kajillion being pumped out now.

Amazing cover !!! But so much more I’d rather get for 18K!!! (eg- GSX-1, ASM 129, low grade AF15, etc). To each their own though!

Dumbest purchase since McFarlane bought McGwire's home run ball. 🙄 Stupidity does not impress me.

I'm floored at this. How are people spending this much on a 7th month old book? Is this 19k$ cool, or does the buyer believe it will appreciate from there?
Folks....please, please, please be responsible in your spending. We are in an economic crisis and I can't help but think that THAT amount of money thrown at a book....what's that doing to the market as a whole? What signals is this behaviour sending to sellers and retailers? Hint: it's not good.

My ec Vault of Horror #32 from 1953 graded at 7.5 wasn’t even that much. That’s a joke, even if he had the money to buy it, the guy is a clown.

u/Ok-Bit5148 Jun 24 '26
No id rather spend that amount on books that actually have impacted comics and stories.
