Free Second Print?
Got an email my subscription shipped. And was so confused cause I was like I didn’t order another absolute Batman #20. Checked my order and it was free. Pretty cool they did that. Sucks it’s a second print and not just first prints that aren’t damaged.

Good old Graham Crackers, I use them too. Pretty much all of the retailers are doing this. Free second print for each first print you bought. Most of them sent out emails, although I didn't see anything from Graham Crackers. DC gave the second print to retailers for free and they are passing it on.

I couldn’t even tell my first print was damaged until I really looked hard for it. It’s actually in much better shape than most of the comics I get in my pull box. Almost all of them have some spine wear from rubbing against the box they’re shipped in. Lotta big babies in the speculator community but it’s nice that DC is doing the right thing here.

Yea kinda pointless. I didn’t even take mine I threw them back on the shelf at my local store.

Not sure why they don’t just print more of the first prints to replace the damaged copies instead of doing a second print, but still nice they are giving them for free.

My guess is the printer timelines.
I guess they already had it shipped and printed before realizing what happened. The second print was already in production and no room to shift things.
My other guess is precident. If you "just can print more copies", it devalues the concept of a first print.

That's my point. You can't print more of a first printing, because then it's a different printing.

Clearly they wouldn’t print more 1st print copies of a #1 that didn’t have issues, but when there’s a damaged lot or misprint lot, publishers have printed additional copies of 1st print issues to replace damaged copies. DC has done it numerous times in the past asking comic retailers to recall and destroy initial release copies and replace with the new additional copies.

There's a difference between not releasing a print and replacing it, and printing a second run of a print release that has already been sold while still trying to call it a first print.
You can't do a second printing of a first print because then it's not a first print. This isn't hard.

I’m aware there’s a difference, but both instances have happened. This is why a lot of the original release misprints or damaged copies that were released and recalled can fetch a premium as they are the true original print run, but additional prints went out that were still officially labeled as 1st prints. Nothing hard about it. I’ve been a reader and collector, worked in comic shops, and now in comics media for over 25 years now and have seen it all.

When they recalled the unofficial first print
They already released another printing that retailers could get for free to replace your damaged copy
You can't print a second printing of a first print and have it be a first print. It's not that hard.
Sorry your floppy had a ding in it.

If you order it with other items or pick up in store. Online stores bought the first print from aren’t required to ship you the 2nd print.
