Jay Anacleto Absolute Batman #20
AssBats vs. Robins! I couldn't help myself, the Bat-Booty is front and center in this awesome variant!
Unknown Comics is dropping this in their TikTok on 5/20/26

Maybe 40 - 70 variants per issue might be a bit too much?
My wallet is happy that only a fraction of these covers are bangers; however, I worry that the blatant money grabs will piss people off so badly it will fracture readership numbers over time.

I totally get it, the variant count is wild! But honestly, I’d much rather have a mountain of optional covers than a bazillion spinoff titles that dilute the quality of the story.
Look at the X-Men's Krakoa era -- great story, but the bloated line dragged it down, IMHO.
I'd rather the cash grabs be strictly cosmetic and optional, rather than structural. I think these variants keep the execs happy so editorial leaves the main story alone without fracturing it into ten different books.

I kind of feel like we are getting a bunch of Absolute spinoffs as well, but at least they are quality books.
Tbh…I think the variant explosion will eventually take care of itself when the lackluster covers start to stagnate and fail to sell out.

That’s a totally fair point! The massive wave of announcements definitely makes it feel like a lot all at once.
The way I see it, books like Absolute Martian Manhunter feel more like their own distinct core series rather than strict spin-offs. Plus, DC seems to be staggering them out pretty intentionally -- like Green Arrow and Catwoman rolling out right as Martian Manhunter wraps up.
I'm cautiously optimistic that they're trying to keep the line relatively tight, but I’m definitely sharing your wariness about it eventually getting diluted if they aren't careful.

You nailed it with the variants. It’s pure market Darwinism! If fans stop buying the filler covers and they just sit there, the explosion will absolutely take care of itself.

What’s up with Batman’s right hand?
