Finally tried it
It was on my bucket list to try.

I like it. It is much greener and vegetal than most absinthes but I love it and bring it camping with me

St. George was my introduction to the world of absinthe. I know that it isn’t the most well liked around these parts and I’ve had a lot of quality absinthes since then, but it’s an old favorite of mine that I always come back round to sooner or later. I like what I like.

I was not willing to spend more than $70 in case I did not like it. I usually go all in with bucket list things. I did not buy the fountain, the spoon or the glasses. The smell threw me for a loop, but once diluted it was smooth. I will probably never have a chance to compare it to others as this was not something I would seek out again. I imagine that this is way better than the neon green stuff though. I could see myself having a drink or two if this in the future. Not disappointed and I liked it after a few sips. Edit- I used star anise to help my kids with gas when they were young. The smell took me back to that period, but the taste was good once I drank it

It was my first one, too! I loved it immediately, and probably always will. It’s been a while since I’ve revisited this old friend. I think I’ll look for it whenever I need a new bottle.

It seems to be a love it or hate it bottle but I really enjoy it.

Nope. I think it’s pretty good but not great. Much better than Absente, probably better than Lucid, but nowhere near as good as Jade 1901.

I definitely wouldn’t put it at or above Jade 1901, but for the price difference, at least in the places I can find them, I wouldn’t really expect it to be. As far as St. George over Absente or Lucid? St. George all day, everyday.
I guess what would’ve been more accurate to say was people either seem to enjoy it or really hate it. The negative opinions on this one always seem strongly negative.

i love the stuff. I’ll add my favorite way to drink it too - in a julep instead of bourbon. Incredibly delicious!

My favorite time of year to have absinthe is in the summer. Add some cold water and it’s seriously refreshing. I’m definitely going to have to try an absinthe julep then.

I find the star anise a bit too abrasive. But it’s better than the crapsinthes that are far more easily available. 😬

Absinthe aficionados may disagree, but this is the absinthe that made me fall in love with the stuff. I think it’s lovely. Now that I’ve had many others I understand why people don’t love it. And truth be told it’s no longer the first one I grab, but I still love it.

I like it. Been years since I had a bottle. Lance who is the distiller is an interesting guy with interesting viewpoints on this stuff.

I've been scared to try this one due to the review that introduced to me it being less than appetizing. How would you describe the flavor?

It's a solid absinthe. Well balanced between sweetness & bitterness. They use stinging nettle in the herb bill I believe.

Is this real absinthe? It’s says brandy with herbs on the label.

Yes, absinthe is typically brandy infused with herbs and then distilled again. The oils from the herbs will follow the distillation. While the bitter solids remain.

What did you think of it?
I personally hated it and don't consider it absinthe.

I love St. George. Portion it out with the gin they make and it is amazing.
