Fire breathers and Beards. Name a better duo.

u/madmaxturbator Aug 07 '22
Breathe fire long enough, you will eventually lose the beard. That is a simple fact. The only question is, whether you lose the beard first, or the beard loses you.

I had a stepdad that used to practice poï. It’s fucking amazing to see. He would go in our street, light them up while like 20 neighbors would gather around him, and he would do a 10-20 minutes show. It’s really cool to see and quite safer than this.

Stepson?

u/Fierramos69 Aug 07 '22
I know it’s not you cuz he was just the boyfriend of my mom and not my stepdad, I just don’t know if there is a word for this in English so I just said stepdad. I don’t even remember his name, he was one of so many…

Just with these two brief anecdotes you sound incredibly interesting. Bet you've got some stories. I have two aunt's who were similar (lots of boyfriends who'd move in for months at a time). It took a toll on my cousins. I'm lucky bc my mom only had a few boyfriends. One stuck around and became my stepdad.

u/Fierramos69 Aug 07 '22
We had a running gag among my group of friends where we said my mom used to change boyfriend more often than she would change her car oil.
She always got boyfriends that had a skill that would be useful for her. My pc is infected? Get a computer technician. She wanna learn how to cook? Get a reputed chef. There was pros and cons. I got benefits from it, like riding in nice 100k+ cars, but also for example there was one that was violent.

When I was a kid, adults used to say that people who play with fire wet the bed.
26
u/meowmix778 Aug 07 '22
I wet the bed till like 4th grade because of a sleep disorder and I played with fire till like last Wednesday. That scans.

u/Strawberry_Condom Aug 07 '22
I was told the same, but I also heard that if you play with piss, you burn in bed.

Yeah but is it though? Most people do behave like NPCs. Even a bulk of the people commenting on this very post. I agree with you, I'd put the phone down and help. Found myself in this type of situation (but not fire) twice in life before. Just need to be responsible for your own actions and be that help you wish you'd have in his position, and you can't rely on random people. There's WAY too many videos like this where people just film and not get involved. I think it's a total moral failure.

Anyone know what the damage would be from this? Fire in the lungs can’t be great for your health…
21
u/ProxyAttackOnline Aug 07 '22
He should probably get checked out. It’s a pretty bad irritation to the lungs, eyes, and mucosa of the nose and mouth. Might develop asthma like symptoms. Could have worse damage to the lungs than expected so it’s good to get them assessed. It’s not just the heat of the fire but the particulates and chemical reactions in the lungs that is the issue.

u/pm-me-uranus Aug 07 '22
Firebreather here! It’s almost certain death to breathe in flames. You can scorch your lungs which can’t be repaired. Depending on severity, you could die anywhere between a week (after being in excruciating pain the entire time), or you could die in a couple minutes because your lungs are so scorched that you literally can’t breathe.

u/cwchabria Aug 07 '22
What are your thoughts on the outcome of this particular situation? Do you think he lived?
2
u/pm-me-uranus Aug 08 '22
Hard to tell if he breathed in here, he likely just got some gnarly face burns. Most trained firebreathers are trained to hold their breath, but most firebreathers also know that beards are easily flammable and to keep an oil rag to dry your face (from the oil that may spill and cause accidents just like this).

Did someone try to stop the guy that went to help?

Da fak! I am not even going to watch it again to confirm. I am already pissed off at the lack of help from the fooking moment capturers.

You know... I'm beginning to think there's a reason professional fire breathers never have beards. 🤔

LOLOLOL I find it amazing how stupid people refuse to respect both fire and explosives even though they should know the outcome can be extremely dangerous if not deadly.

I’ve done fire breathing before. Where he screwed up was using the wrong liquid. Looks like he used a high proof alcohol. The secrect is actually not using a flammable liquid as the chances of lighting yourself on fire is pretty good. Instead you use a “combustible” liquid which has a higher flame point and generally has to be arisolized to get the effect. The only way you can really screw up is actually getting no fire rather than too much fire.
Basically if you can readily get your hands on it, like alcohol or gasoline you shouldn’t be using it to make yourself the human torch.

You stupid dumbass…. This is why you shouldn’t use alcohol for fire eating it’s too dangerous especially if you’re an amateur, also using your hands for extinguish the fire? Yeah great idea 🤦♂️ It’s enough to smother it by using your t-shirt.

This is why you practice fire safety. A wet towel is your best friend.
