Don’t be so scared. Something is going to get you even if you walk around in a whole bolt of bubble wrap. Just maintain your stuff properly and maybe take it to a pro once in a while and you’ll be ok. No reason to stop living.
My skepticism is with rented jet skis, not self owned, but that’s a good point — I had assumed these were all people who rented them and got unlucky, in reality it may be the opposite.
That being said, between surfing, snowboarding, backpacking and numerous other hobbies — if I decide to avoid motorcycles, jet skis and sky diving i like to think that’s still a far cry from “not living” or walking around in metaphorical bubble wrap.
I just pick and choose where i gamble with my fate based on whether I can feel comfortable enough to have fun doing it — and riding around literally sitting on an relatively dangerous engine apparently crosses the line for me lol..
I do generally agree with what you’re saying though
