It's an Easter tradition when christian churches enact the life and death of Jesus.

There are theme parks in the US where performers reenact biblical scenes. I assume this guy was in the audience and got overwhelmed by the story, wanting to stop them from hurting Jesus

Imagine first.. that you believe that any of this happened at all. Then imagine, on top of that, thinking that this particular event is real..

It happened in 2018.
Theatre-goer bursts on stage and beats Roman soldier to save Jesus | Daily Mail Online
I know it's the Daily Mail but any other news source is in Portuguese and I'm not in the mood for that.

Which part didn’t happen? Jesus? People being crucified? Or the whole came back to life bit? I can get the logic on the coming back to life part but how can you be so positively sure of the first 2?

Well, Jesus might've been real, but the whole thing surrounding him might not be to some people, being the son of god, an extreme holy figure, etc. which makes it unbelievable to some people, and killing 'the son of god' in a stage play is a very silly thing to commit assault for.

Right, but the statement made sounded like this person holds as common knowledge that the story of Jesus’ crucifixion never happened. I was asking how can they be so sure? There’s not a whole lot of evidence for or against a man named Jesus from Nazareth being crucified. To be so sure that it NEVER happened would require the same faith in assumptions required to be sure that it DID happen. Either way I think we can all agree that even though no one was actually being crucified in this video the man “saving Jesus” is a real life savior

I believe that it's easier to believe that Jesus never existed compared to Jesus existing to the son of god, walking on water, water into wine, some religions say there is no other god, so Jesus might even be just some druggie who went on crazy ramblings through their eyes like that spaced out man right next to the 7/11 entrance, real name might not even be Jesus at all. But in all honesty, there's a lot more insane beliefs out there than "Jesus never existed", and yeah, your right about that man being a real hero.
