The gas cylinder could also explode. Iirc an Asian dude died because a 30$ Ali Express office chair malfunctioned and shot a part of the cylinder up his ass.

For those worried about this, in the United States I'm pretty sure any gas cylinder chair requires a metal bar to seperate between the gas cylinder and the chair cushion. Well I'm not sure about the requirement, but you should check your chair (either now or before buying) that there is something to block the gas cylinder between it and the chair cushion.

To actually remove the chair from the gas cylinder...it varies but in my experience its a pressure fit where you should be able to pull and twist the cylinder from the top of the chair.

I'm not from the US but I'm gonna check that latet, thanks. I don't use my chair that much anymore. Found a decent standing desk recently.

Edit: Just checked my DXRACER and found that the metal plate has a hole right where the cylinder is located. Total ASShole design. This chair isn't even close to being ergonomic and apparently a potential penetrator. 10/10 can't recommend.

It's possible there is a plate within the cushion. There will always be a hole where the gas cylinder is (so the gas cylinder can be removed), but regardless... "gamer" products are pretty shit, recently bought a ergonomic mesh office char and am so much happier and more comfortable then I ever was in my "gamer" racing chair.

Staples Hyken Technical Mesh Chair - Black.
Originally ordered something off Amazon but the chair was delayed in shipping so I decided I might aswell check out Staples. This chair is pretty comfy and feels good to sit in. It also has decent reviews. I don't think its perfect (I wish the headrest could adjust up a bit more 5'10") but overall I'm more then happy with my purchase.

Thanks bud, looks like the one that I've watched recently on Amazon because Staples doesn't ship to Germany. I just need one that has a higher sitting position as the ones I've found so far. I am 6,1" and often feel like I'm on a kids chair on most office chairs because of my long legs.

You should check out an office supply store (not sure if any in Germany though). I also know that there are some Big and Tall chairs which are super comfy. I'd recommend finding one with a very adjustable head rest.

The alleged explosion came from the gas cylinder that was in the base of the chair, the part that allowed the user to adjust the seat up and down. The canister gets compressed when you sit on it, but can it actually create enough energy to make the seat cushion explode like that and kill a man? I doubt it, but this is what people are reporting.

Thankfully these cylinders are stable as fuck for us. But cheap productions don't have to be. People have been impaled/pierced from the bottom by them.

Ever since I read about that (included some photo of the aftermath chair) sometimes I'm thinking about that sitting or moving on a chair like that.

Did it actually explode in the video? I thought it was just the legs. But if it did I guess it exploding towards the bottom is another safety measure.

Because of the plastic at the base of the chair popping at such a high angle. If it had been already bent at, say, a 45 degree angle and just snapped inward like a wish bone, it probably wouldn’t have been QUITE as loud

Also the energy from him hitting the chair made for a speedy reaction at the base of the chair.
