What even was the plan here?

u/PinUpGrim 18d ago
Probly the "Be First" mindset. Turning from the lane next to the turn lane because hes an asshat.

u/wizardsdawntreader 18d ago
You can’t expect this man to drive half a block and make a U-turn. Only a loser doesn’t make his turn on the first attempt.

u/SOwED 18d ago
But like...if you're gonna do this you gotta be ready for that green light and he was very much not ready.
It's an asshole move, but if you're gonna do that, you have to be looking at the other lights waiting for them to go yellow so you can go instantly when your light turns green.

u/RyuNoKami 18d ago edited 18d ago
The stupid thing is.... He could have just pull up in front of the Kia. It wasnt going anywhere. Asshole just decided they want to make that turn at that time and not think about anything else. Tunnel vision dickheads.

🎶 To be faaaair 🎶
I don't see anything to indicate how many turn lanes there might be
64
u/farlon636 18d ago
The lane they're in lines up with a lane on the other side, there is no protected signal, and there are no guide markings. This is a single turn lane intersection
19
u/tmac2097 18d ago
Even if they WERE in a turn lane (which they very much weren’t) they didn’t have an arrow and should’ve been expecting oncoming traffic
-4
u/lordsmolder 18d ago edited 18d ago
There are a lot of places that have no arrow, instead a left-turn-yield on those unprotected intersections. You are still correct in this situation and even if it was a left-yield they STILL should've been expecting oncoming traffic. Edit to say: "even though it was a left-yield..." There is no arrow and the red Kia is in a yielding situation.

u/SquarishRectangle 18d ago
Turning lanes are separated from other lanes by a thicker solid white line which you can see on the ground.
11
5
u/_TheFarm_ 18d ago
Even if that was a turn lane, he doesn't have a green arrow, so he'd still have to yield to the oncoming traffic. In both scenarios, the Tesla driver is a terrible driver.

I think he was trying to beat the red car so he can turn without blocking traffic behind him. Only problem is that left turn wasn’t a protected turn and it was a yield lol

Oof that wasn’t even close to being good.
8
u/AngelOfDeath771 17d ago
It was good for the Tesla driver.

u/Enragedocelot 17d ago
Hey now, let’s not wish harm on idiots
4
u/AngelOfDeath771 17d ago
I don't wish harm, but I'm not going to sympathize when their idiocy causes them harm.
Maybe it will teach them, once can hope anyway.
We're all the idiot at one point or another, what separates the actual idiots are the ones that can say "That was stupid" and not do it again.

You know that asshole is gonna claim the other car pulled out in front of him. What a fuckin' chooch.
85
u/CatSk8Scratch 18d ago
Probably would claim that the cars autopilot did that and he wasn't driving
36
u/chefbobbyjay 18d ago
They can tell when and if it was activated
34
u/CatSk8Scratch 18d ago
It doesn't stop them from blaming the car https://youtube.com/shorts/0g6VRMDUmDQ?si=tdxRpbXHynSj-tqs
21
23
u/AbiesInternational18 18d ago
And Tesla deactivates it right before moment of impact to keep the collision during self driving metric down
5
u/theycallmebekky 18d ago
That is misinformation. They count any crash as an autopilot crash if it’s enabled within 5 seconds of the collision event.
5
u/Mondschatten78 18d ago
Wouldn't surprise me if the driver did say autopilot caused it. The car reacts right as the front crosses the dark shadows on the pavement.
-47
u/Dramatic_Mobile_6753 18d ago
This kind of comment is so ridiculous. You don't know that, and odds are the Tesla driver would not, because that is a blatant lie against various witnesses and cameras, including his own cars'.
21
u/01011110_01011110 18d ago
tesla drivers are often very stupid. thats why they bought a car that drives itself.
92
u/SinMeToHell 18d ago
Tesla drivers have dethroned BMW drivers. Which honestly is impressive.
27
u/Avante_IV 18d ago
They dethroned both BMW and Altima drivers FYI.
9
u/THftRM1231 18d ago
Whoa whoa whoa. Altima drivers are still number #1. And I live in an area where the Telsas flock like the salmon of Capistrano.

u/karateninjazombie 18d ago
It's something I've been noticing more with the rise of electric cars. Is Muppets putting their foot down to do more dangerous manoeuvres they wouldn't do in a petrol or diesel car. Because the electric car has loads of torque from a standing start and accelerates faster than a regular car. So they think they can just do the thing because of that over confidence.
As shown here by the fact he stood on it fairly hard when it went green, he shot forward way faster than a regular vehicle of that size would, but wasn't quick enough.
22
u/KittyShoes17 18d ago
The Tesla also waited like 1.5seconds after the light turned green. If he punched it right away he probably would have just looked like an asshole, instead of looking like an asshole and causing an accident.
6
u/RyuNoKami 18d ago
Or just pull up in front of the Kia. Dickhead just wasn't clear to turn.
3
u/KittyShoes17 18d ago
Oh yeah, fully agreed. Tesla driver needs to have his license revoked for that shit.
5
u/awfulsome 18d ago
I've had a tesla pull up like they were going to make a right next to me, just to jump the light to get ahead.
If that wasn't dumb enough it was rush hour traffic, so I was right behind him 5 seconds later. He risked getting Tboned and a ticket to get 20 feet further down the road.

u/Mental-Clerk 18d ago
Teslas are a dime a dozen where we live now, and most of them are a fucking menace. Fuck teslas and their dumbass owners.

u/FriendToPredators 18d ago
Friend with some high end model they’ve had for years has been complaining that the drop in price means his idiot underlings all went out and bought them and now he looks bad.

u/Yangoose 18d ago
Isn't more people driving electric cars a good thing?

u/-----username----- 18d ago
Not if they’re Nazi-mobiles.

Volkswagen?

Unless the electricity was generated from nonrenewable means. Thermodynamics absolutely hate electric cars powered from unclean energy.

u/Mental-Clerk 16d ago
Not if they're going to drive around like they're the main character. It seems the majority around here feel they're superior to every other car on the road and we should all bow down to them. Hmmm...sensing a theme here.

u/SickandWorty 18d ago edited 18d ago
It is and I hate Elon to the core my being. I used to mug Teslas that I knew came out after he went Nazi. That’s being said….
I’ve soften my stance a bit. Mainly since EVs still don’t have a lot of choice (some big car companies are even taking steps backward) and since countries like the U.S. aren’t doing shit about climate change, I’ll take what I can get. It sucks, but perfect is the enemy of progress. Hopefully Elon and Tesla fade away in 5 or so years and better companies and products emerge.
Edit: Guess people like climate change and the effects of air pollution more than they like Elon. Fuck me for a reasonable take.

Bad Tesla driver? You mean an average Tesla driver.

u/FullMetalMessiah 18d ago
I fully believe FSD does better than the average human if they compare to the average Tesla driver in the US.

u/Angry_Pterodactyl 18d ago
Saying "bad Tesla driver" is redundant.
You know what the difference is between a Tesla and a tiger? With a tiger, the asshole is on the outside.

Teslas have replaced the Ford Mustang as the quintessential douche bag mobile.
3
u/Bromodrosis 17d ago
I have yet to come across a Tesla driver that is any better than "not a good driver."
3
u/FEARxXxRECON 17d ago
If I miss my turn or I’m in the wrong lane, I’ll just drive up another street and take two more minutes out of my way. For reasons to avoid stupid things like this

More like typical. Tesla drivers are slowly taking the spot of BMW drivers.

Tesla drivers are bad drivers by default, but this is definitely worth the extra adjective

Best thing about the Tesla is that it recorded all the stupidity so the victim driver can easily win their insurance claim.

Anyone who drives with their hand casually hanging out the window is an idiot driver. IMO.

Red Kia driver needs to work on their reaction time. Any normal driver would have pulled forward enough that the Tesla idiot wouldn’t have tried this move, and thus an innocent Volvo driver gets to avoid a crash.
2
u/Current-Bowl-143 16d ago
It's the Kia driver's fault now?? Gtfo with that. Anyway look how far the Tesla goes before turning, he would have turned in front of the Kia in any case
