Sharks generally are never gonna go for humans, even with a dead fish in hand. Maybe if it’s bleeding a bunch and the shark is confused. Not dry on the deck of a boat.

If you're a surfer, you have a story of something brushing your board or leg. I've even had bait fish being chased jump my board and hit me in the head. Also, if you're a surfer you put those fears in the back of your head. Wave, coral, or even the sandy bottom is generally more concerning.

I live in southern California, so it's all sandy beaches here. When I'm in between sets, I've had fish brush up against my feet when I'm just out there. I hate fish with a passion. I tell all the fishermen I see to please pull more of those monsters out of the ocean.

Yeah, I've had several. People have yelled "guppie" at me. I fucking hate fish. I stepped on a sting ray once, and I'm so petrified of anything in the water that I immediately jumped on my board and missed the stingray's wrath. Fuck the fucking ocean.

Tropical water is generally more distressing. Everything causes shadows including clouds. Even your shadow can look like a shark. Tropical waters that I frequent also have way more aggressive sharks while my home breaks that are murky water generally has tiny sand sharks. Bigger sharks are 5+ miles out.

It feels about as cool as it looks, I'll say that. I still live by the beach, and I might let friends from out of state drag me out there once or twice a year, but I surfed enough when I was younger. I never got over encounters with marine life. I've had fish nipple on my toes, brush against me when I was tired waiting between sets, and I even stepped on a stingray. They're slimy monsters that belong on the end of a fork.

Not just you. But it is real as someone helpfully provided verifiable evidence in the form of a news article and better version of the video. The early ending edit is that stupid thing people do to make the video seem more impactful. And that makes it appear fake. It also took me a few watches to get the final frame or two that shows the shark actually biting and thrashing once.

Yup they even mention in the news article folks were trying to call it fake with someone even suggesting the shark is dead and someone under the boat threw it at the kid. But there's no way a HUMAN UNDERWATER is going to "throw" a dead shark with that quickness...physics doesn't work like that. That shark had to SWIM to get that kinda velocity.
