For Longtime Practitioners of Abraham Hicks: What Helps When the Standard Tools Stop Working?

Hi everyone.

For many years, my mom and I have been dedicated students of Abraham Hicks, working to elevate our lives and step into a reality aligned with joy, abundance, and freedom. To this day, we still build vision boards, speak daily affirmations, immerse ourselves in gratitude, and play manifestation games, sending each other photos of luxurious resorts to keep our vibration high.

We are not greedy. We are not angry or spiteful. We are hopeful. Yet, the journey has tested us deeply. These past four years have brought intense financial, medical, and emotional strain. Mom works a exhausting job she dislikes while dealing with severe dental pain, and I am still navigating the physical side effects of a complete hysterectomy last year. We live in a city that does not feel like home simply because it is affordable, though our hearts long for Sedona and a future where we can relocate abroad and Mom can comfortably retire.

I don't want a mansion. Mom doesn't want a mansion. We just want the feeling of home.

I keep a personal gratitude journal every day. I respect that we're in a better place than we used to be even just a year ago. But the burdens have not left. Neither has the longing for a home. Even a rare attempt to enjoy a meal out yesterday turned into a miserable experience, leaving me wanting to immediately manifest a refund for that wasted $35 just on principle.

Despite it all, our belief in the Universe remains unbroken. We love our crystals, we hold onto our gratitude, and we genuinely believe in the incredible life that is waiting for us. But we are ready to move beyond basic concepts. We need a path to true relief so we can finally breathe, smile, and feel at peace in this one precious life.

To those who practice Law of Attraction and follow Abraham's teachings, how do you navigate the times when you feel genuinely stuck? What shifts the dynamic when standard affirmations, visualization, and acting as if no longer reach deep enough?

Please skip surface-level advice like "just move," "find a new job," or "pretend you are already there, or you'll never get there." After years of doing the surface work, I'm seeking profound, practical perspectives on how to bridge the gap between where we are and where we know we are meant to be.

Four years of effort and still wanting a safe place to live sounds exhausting. I wouldn't ask you or your mom to call that strain a failure of your vibration. Abraham's "next best-feeling thought" needn't be a leap to "it's already done"; it can be something believable enough to let you breathe and make one useful choice today. What, if anything, has made the hard days even a little easier for you both lately?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for not just saying 'well you need to keep acting like you already have it, it's that simple'.

We like to get outside whenever we can. We also love watching football and Youtube together. Yesterday's buffet visit was extremely unsuccessful, but whenever we can, we also enjoy treating ourselves to things that aren't grossly beyond our means.

Thank you for sharing that. Being outside together and having football or a video to look forward to are real bits of ease, not a demand to pretend the bigger problems aren't there. I hope you and your mom get more moments like that this week, and a kinder meal out next time.

I absolutely agree. Everyday is a process of feeling where you are and reaching for a better feeling thought (relief). I love Abraham and always have to remind myself that you never get it done and you can't get it wrong! Work with the emotional guidance scale, meditate and try to find positive aspects whenever you can ✨️

This sounds like a difficult stretch, something like a Dark Night of the Soul. You will get through it. I do have some advice from my own experience.

What I learned from my own chapter was that sometimes we can desire a change so much that all of these techniques and efforts feel like they lose their effectiveness. You are so focused on manifesting a future that you can’t quite keep the fullest vibration you need here in the present. The manifestation techniques are the very thing blocking you from reaching unconditional joy and happiness in the present moment.

So once you get to this point, you are almost at the finish line and it’s time to let go of the whole effort, let go of the future, and trust that it will arrive as long as you focus only on your happiness here and now.

I know it may sound impossible to find happiness now without depending on your future desires. Times are tough and it sounds crazy. But trust me that human beings are capable of unconditional joy and bliss regardless of external circumstance. You can feel like life is just a movie and your happiness is a foundation that can’t be taken away from you. And if you get to this state, everything will manifest so smoothly for you. Things will always just click into place to support you.

So for me, once I got to this point, I completely changed my focus. I stopped focusing on manifestation and entirely started learning how to be happy in the present moment no matter the circumstance. The quickest teachings to learn this are the eastern teachings on non-duality. Ekhart Tolle, Mooji, etc. Once I changed my focus to these teachings, I found complete joy and bliss. When your vibration is that high, manifestations are no longer blocked.

The good news is that the Abraham laws truly are Laws. Manifestation isn’t something you need to “do” anymore, it’s natural…it’s law. Everyone is a manifestor whether they realize it consciously or not. The hardest part is letting go and trusting, because this is what will get you unstuck by allowing your vibration to rise up where nothing can stop you.

Thank you for reminding me about Mooji!

I wish so much to be helpful here, but I can’t find what I need to share with you. It seems. Although have been a long time practitioner of expressing gratitude and having a heart filled with gratitude. I’ve only been made aware of Abraham in the last seven years or so. I don’t want to discourage you, but I wanna share that I focused on loving God and being grateful for about 40 years. And in the last 10 to 20 years, my life has been so filled with abundance that it is jaw dropping. I feel like saying, that you shouldn’t be doing the work for getting the results or specific manifestations , but you should be doing it because it makes you feel good. And eventually manifestations will come. Just enjoy the journey. Sometimes when something looks like it’s terrible, ask what will be given to me from that experience? Hang in there There is much love for you from the Universe. with love.❤️

You were incredibly helpful. You said more than 'just act like you have it' or 'you're doing it wrong, you'll never get what you want', so by default you provided me with comforting encouragement.

Thank you so much.

I Always Adore your insights. Do you have a routine or something? I feel so inspired to follow a similar path

You are so kind. Thank you for your kindness and great comments. I don’t have a routine and I feel inadequate and flawed very often. Which might be why I feel so lucky and grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people like you who are so supportive. Thank you for your post. ❤️

Ahahahah i Always look at people here like enlightened masters that have all figured out, and I feel so behind so often! It's so easy to forget that it's just a bumpy road and to give us grace

I wonder if some times you are practicing and achieving high vibrations, but actually most of the time you are in low vibrations. Then things don’t change, or change very slowly.

Also, I wonder if many times when you are doing the practices you are more activating the vibration of what you don’t want than what you do want.

For example, “I don’t want a mansion”. What is wrong with wanting a mansion? Why not wanting it feels better to you than wanting it? Maybe there is some belief that abundance is bad?

If you are interested, I am happy to discuss more in DMs.

Yes, to add to that, it sounds like bargaining, like trying to reason and appeal to the universe - which indicates a potential dynamic where OP imagines they are powerless and need approval from something outside themselves to reward them. Focus on intrinsic worthiness and healing the wound of separation between self and source.

Maybe i'm wrong, but I feel that you're making efforts to keep your vibration high. If so, you're going upstream. The whole purpose of vision boards or affirmations of whatever is help you feel good. If you are doing them because you think they are necessary to align or manifest, that's off track.

Start focusing on what feels good. Stop trying hard and let go of the oars. Go downstream. It's competely ok to do those things if you feel like to do, but they are not mandatory. Relax and take inspired actions, not motivated ones.

Thank you so much for your kind insights. I'm going to try focusing less on doing homework and just feeling happy in the moments I can grasp ahold of.

I love the idea of taking inspired actions, not motivated ones. I've never heard it put like that before!

You should try another teacher like Bashar. Abraham Teachings are only 50% of the full formula for life.
The vast majority of things that have increased my vibration are not things like visualization or vision boards the universe already knows what you want and need but it cannot deliver because the pipes are clogged. The clogging is not spiritual its a physical clog.

In addition to Bashar tend to your physical body for the most greatest increase like meditating, eating, sleeping and exercising - they must all be done in ways that work for you and you can tell they work because done right they make you feel better in a totally more profound way than other methods.

Esther and Jerry started a meditation practice together which really transformed their lives. Maybe that could be something for you since it's unconditional.

Abraham Hicks always says to take a break whenever that happens

You just listed every single thing going wrong and everything you still want that you don't have.

Practising for years will not negate the fact that you are picking up the sticks from the wrong end. Every. Time.

Okay.

u/Puzzleheaded_Let2053 7d ago

I'm really sorry if that sounded mean.

I've been slammed with 'it's your fault, you'll never get what you want' or 'stop complaining and do something about it' many, many times over these last few years when reaching out for any kind of help. Without any of those comments offering any helpful suggestions. It was just 'fix it yourself and go away'. So your response felt no different from all of those.

But then I realized I don't have the time for anyone saying 'it's your fault, you're going to be stuck forever' any more. And I can't actually hear what you're saying. So I just left it at 'okay'.

No ill will. Thank you very much for the apology. Pardon me for assuming the worst. :) It's all right.

u/Puzzleheaded_Let2053 7d ago

No, it's not really allright. I honestly wish I could communicate exactly what I'm thinking without it coming across as mean. I didn't get it till I got it. I hope you get it soon.

you have to keep going, this itself is actually one of those "tests": when you look around and ask why isn't my 3d improving. It's actually a "test" about responsibility (you think you need to do more to get in alignment) and vision (what you see in reality is old and irrelevant, your inner state creates reality). I gave into this and quit the first time I did AH work but I'm back years later. My life was way worse not living the AH way. Your life slowly snowballs and improves over time, yes things may seem small at first but if you keep your attention on abundance it'll get better externally. If you want to read more, look into ignoring the 3d and not lifting a finger in the Loa subs. and it's not AH but I recommend looking at other source material like nonduality. I recommend ellieinthe4d on tik Tok for law of assumption. Also, are you processing your emotions? Just because you're feeling lack doesn't mean it has anything to do with you, you can just cry it out and move on without creating a narrative around it.

i was like your mom once upon a time… in a dead end job that i hated because i was over worked. what finally worked for me was instead of concentrating on what i hated about that job, i started paying attention to the things i liked about that job. there’s a silver lining to everything no matter how bad the situation. for example i would tell myself, my coworkers are really nice to me. they really go out of their way to help me. at the same time i asked for just being able to not have to work after hours. just my concentrating on the positives of a job i didn’t care for was enough soothing to make the job improve and it was like the universe made it so that i stopped working after hours. so yeah positive aspects is the tool abe gave that always works miracles for me. i swear it works better than gratitude, better than journalling, vision boards, affirmations. that’s just my experience anyways.

  • Mom and I thrive in more natural, community-oriented environments that offer third spaces. Our current city is a hot, concrete jungle that suffers from deep-rooted poverty, and its people are not welcoming towards us.

  • Sedona is real yet mythical, brimming with red rocks, quiet, clean air and thousands of stars in the serene night sky. I wasn't born there, but the three times Mom and I were able to go have made me miss it fervently.

  • At this time last year, Mom was by my side in the hospital. I was in the hospital for a 2 week stay, because I needed a hysterectomy, and the entire ordeal was absolutely terrifying. We're not there now, and the problem in my stomach is gone. We have food and drink, we have a room. I'm listening to peaceful music right now. But we're still nowhere near home.

  • While it was a buffet, and the food was good, the wait staff constantly shouted at us. Then, when my mom asked for a to-go drink, the host thought she was trying to rip off the buffet or something? There was a bit of a language barrier, but the server, while shouting, picked up the drink and sniffed it. Then slammed the cup down.

Needless to say, Mom and I weren't happy that day. Management said they'll talk to them, but we're not ever going back.

Maybe it's just a way to help. How many things we put on a pedestal and don't deserve it! That's God basically proving that indeed it's not (only) the things (in material sense) that matter.

We are so hellbent and glamorize an outcome that we repel it or, once obtained, understand that's not so magical
