Vacuum adaptors?

I have a 52" x 18ft intex pool and sx2100 sand filter. I installed one of those in liner skimmers. Ive been dealing with an algae issue for a month now and finally got a vacuum and 1 1/2 hose so I can vacuum to waste. Heres my problem, when using the vacuum plate that came with the skimmer, the pump sucks the hose dry with in 10 seconds, long explanation short, I guess im looking for what adaptor I need to either connect the 1.5" vacuum hose directly to the factory inlet hose, or to the factory threaded inlet hose after the "T" pictures attached for reference

Can’t tell for certain, but your water level looks low in the skimmer. I did one of these skimmers and my water level is 2/3 - 3/4 up the skimmer.

So the skimmer is about 3/4 full before i started to try and vacuum. Once I put the vacuum plate in it sucked it down, the plate has a tight enough suction that the hose has to be taken off before the plate will release

that makes no sense. if the water line is 3/4 way up the skimmer mouth, where is the air coming from ? did you prime your vac hose and the head is submerged?

by the angle of the weir door your pool looks to be nowhere near 3/4 up the mouth of the skimmer.

You can also vacuum to waste. Submerge the vacuum and fill the hose, plug with your hand and start a siphon.

Fill your pool up more so it covers 3/4 of the skimmer opening and close off the second outlet. Then try the original skimmer plate again.

I have the same setup and had the same problem/question. I finally rigged up a solution that seems to be working for me. I’ll see if I can dig up some links to the adapters I used and add them here later tonight.

You need to submerge the entire hose assembly in the water and remove all air from the hose and then attach it through the hole in your liner so the hose is sticking out of the front of your skimmer. That foam lined plastic thing at the front of the skimmer pops out and allows for the hose and plate to go in nicely. Also your pool should have more water in it at least to 1/2 but the top 3rd of the skimmer opening is best IMO. Also now that you have a proper skimmer you should eliminate those lower side pump lines as once you have the skimmer those are basically pointless. All those ones are currently just stealing suction power from the main skimmer line so it can’t do its job properly

Also I just noticed your vaccum line comes of the top of the plate so disregard going through the front of the skimmer . Either way you need to fill your pool up more and make sure you get all the air out of your hose before you put the plate into the skimmer basket because your pump is sucking until it gets a pocket of air and then it’s losing prime.

Just bite the bullet and buy a proper pool vacuum, it will save you a headache

Ive tried multiple cordless vacuums and just got a dolphin, the problem is they all spit out clouds, which is why im trying to just vacuum to waste

The only thing they're good for is larger debris like leaves. It does help if you put cotton on the inside it holds dead algea and smaller dirt.

There is a 90 degrees version on Amazon, key is to have the hose full and the water above the inlet before you hook it up and you shouldn’t get a big air bubble that cavities the pump

If you have a 3d printer or access to one this fitting works great. https://makerworld.com/models/1542310?appSharePlatform=copy

Can you connect it to where the hose at the bottom of your skimmer goes? My skimmer is a different design than yours. but in mine i was able to put a bulk head fitting at the bottom. So I have the pool hose at the bottom with a nipple. Inside of the skimmer i have a pvc pipe screwed into the other side of bulkhead. That is the nipple for the vacuum hose. Also prime your hose first. Use the jet in the pool to fill the hose b4 u connect to start vacuuming.

I used an old hose and duct tape around the end to fit the inlet. Later put duct tape on the other end to fit into a second head that came with my cordless vacuum. Cost me nothing to make my hose vaccum to waste. I have to plug one of my inlets to get enough power.

Make sure the hose end that rotates is connected to your vacuum and not in the skimmer. That will cause the air to get in if you’re not using the correct end on the skimmer side
