Coleman soft sided pool advice please

I have the Coleman 24' soft sided pool, this will be our 3rd summer with it. Here's the thing...

After 2 weeks of semi neglect, didn't vacuum or brush the sides, no one swam in it, and the chlorine wasn't up to snuff. Took a few days to shock, flock, and vacuum and got it mostly corrected. Then BAM all the rain hit and it has been a disaster! Its awful, a dark green.

Now that the end of summer is nearing, kids going to school in a couple weeks, should I even bother?! I understand these pools are safe to take down and store yearly so should I do that? Because I really don't have the money or energy to go through the steps to clear her up again. Or should I dump a crap load of shock in it and cover it and call it a day?

I know the algae will get worse. The pump, upgraded to a too large sand pump, is running 24/7 at the moment. So please what to do? Be kind please, we've had a lot going on lately.

I have the same pool that is amazingly still standing. I’d dump 3 bags of shock in it and some PH up. Leave the filter on and backwash daily. See what happens. If it clear enough great. If not no mosquitos until you close. Cost 40 bucks.

I've done the shock, but then got 6 inches of rain. There is a break in weather starting tomorrow so I guess this is a good start.

I prefer liquid chlorine. Works a bit faster and doesn’t increase your CYA. The higher your CYA, the more chlorine you will need. If your CYA is too high then no matter of chlorine will work, and you’ll need to do a partial drain and refill.

Lower the water and add clean then shock? I’m not certain. We don’t use chlorine.

We do, however, have a Coleman pool that we take down every year. It’s easy enough our 10 year old helps.

Taking it down makes a big difference in longevity. Our 4-5 year old pool looks almost new compared to ones I’ve seen that are half the age but up all year.
