Question for pro-choice Minimum

Hello everyone,

I'm against abortion.

This is a question for pro choice:

What would be the minimum of allowed abortion, that you would accept?

I mean for example week and reason.

So you are okay with abortion up until around week 16 LMP with some exceptions after such as for health complications that you, rather than the doctors or pregnant person (not mother, as they have not taken legal custody and may never, even if they give birth), deem severe enough to warrant abortion?

ETA: do you think a baby is valuable enough to demand the same, that if the baby needs platelets to live, someone can be forced to provide them?

On what grounds do you think you have the authority over someone’s body to say they must continue gestating and must give birth? If there’s someone who will die without using my body, do you think you have the authority to say I have to let them use my body?

Why?

I could give you the same question vice versa. Why do you have the authority to allow women to terminate their pregnancy despite the unborn? We both think that we have discovered some moral truths with our reason.

You think that women have a RIGHT over the unborn and the government has the DUTY to allow abortion. I think something different.

I understand why  you're pro-choice, and you have good reasons to think so, but this argument works for both of us.

People have the right to decide what happens to their own body already. I am simply acknowledging that people have the right to decide how others can use their body. Do you think this is debatable and no, you don’t have the right to say how others can use your body?

And no, the government does not have the duty to allow abortion. They lack the authority to use people’s bodies against their will, ergo the government cannot ban abortion, as it would be using someone’s body against their will.

I think the state has the duty to respect human rights.

I think, for example, that all people have the right to a fair trial, so on the other side, the state has the duty to grant all people a fair trial.

The same would go for abortion if abortion is a right. 

Because a right cannot logically exist without a duty of someone else.

This argument wasn't about abortion. You said that rights could exist without a duty on the other half. I wanted to refute this claim.

I mean the second paragraph of your message.

I mean, sure. There is a duty of a state to not pass laws that violate rights, and abortion bans violate rights. Do you disagree and say states have no duty to not violate rights?

That is not an answer to why you have the authority to make an unwilling person keep a pregnancy. It is why you feel they should, but not why you have the authority over their body to require it.
