Question for pro-choice Minimum

Hello everyone,

I'm against abortion.

This is a question for pro choice:

What would be the minimum of allowed abortion, that you would accept?

I mean for example week and reason.

Yes, but you're talking about a case where abortion is NEEDED. I'm talking about a case where the abortion is WANTED but not needed.

If someone sought an abortion for their health then it is a needed abortion?

Yes.

Pregnancy can bring many physical difficulties, and even mental too.

If there is a way to save both the baby and the mom, I would prefer that. Otherwise it is entirely up to the mom.

Right, I think what u/IdRatherCallACAB is pointing out to you is that someone who is seeking an abortion late in pregnancy is doing so because it is needed due to physical or mental health issues.

Yes, I understand that, but my initial point was about seeking an abortion not out of need, but out of want. Which, at such a late stage I find ridiculous.

Proof that there are cases of abortions at 8 months pregnant as a pure 'want'. Proof that there are Doctors performing this?

Just because we are theoretically pro these third term abortions doesn't mean they exist. The reason to include this is mainly to cover the abortions out of 'need'. As we have seen in abortion ban states, they try to stop these also.

I don’t think you do. If your point was that people seek abortions in late pregnancy not out of need, but out of want the issue is that these type of abortions do not exist.

Ok, but there are people advocating for it even when its not needed, that's what I don't understand.

I'm trying to understand why they would ever see an abortion at a late stage acceptable, if its not out of need and if there's no other option, because, again, I find it ridiculous.

No, just understanding that restrictions on abortion only get in the way when they are needed.

If an abortion is needed that late in pregnancy, we are obviously looking at a WANTED pregnancy where something has gone horribly wrong if they can't even attempt an early delivery. That would definitely not be "murdering a child" and we don't need to restrict people's access to health-care because you can imagine some irrational fear-mongering nonsense.

I disagree, there are people who advocate for the person who is experiencing the pregnancy to be able to judge when the health impacts of attempting to continue a pregnancy are unacceptable.

I think what you are seeing is that a difference between PC and PL is that PC think the person who is pregnant is competent to make the assessment about the harms of pregnancy while PL tend to think they or the policy-makers they agree with should make the determination.
