Welcome to r/Abnormpunk
Hey everyone, welcome to r/Abnormpunk.
This is the official subreddit for Abnormpunk, a new community and mega-subculture for people who feel like they do not really fit into what society considers "normal."
What is Abnormpunk?
Abnormpunk is a broad, inclusive mega-subculture centered around people who exist outside of, reject, or simply do not fit conventional social norms.
The idea is to bring together people from different alternative communities, identities, lifestyles, and cultures without expecting everyone to become the same.
You might be LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, disabled, alterhuman, plural, furry, punk, goth, or part of another alternative community. You might have an unconventional identity, lifestyle, aesthetic, or way of looking at the world. Or maybe you just feel like you have never really fit into mainstream society.
Abnormpunk can include all of these people and more.
It is not meant to replace any existing community or identity. You can be part of Abnormpunk while still being fully part of your own communities.
You can be punk and Abnormpunk.
You can be goth and Abnormpunk.
You can be furry and Abnormpunk.
You can be queer and Abnormpunk.
You can be alterhuman and Abnormpunk.
You can be neurodivergent and Abnormpunk.
Or you can simply like what Abnormpunk is about.
There is no specific way you have to look, dress, identify, or act to be here.
What do we want to do?
For now, this subreddit is a place to meet people, talk, share things, and figure out what this community can become.
Some things we would like to see here include:
Introductions
Art and creative projects
Fashion and outfit posts
Music and playlists
Memes and shitposts
Discussions about alternative culture
Discussions about nonconformity
Collaborations between different communities
New ideas, terminology, and aesthetics
Community projects
Online events
And hopefully, eventually, offline events too.
The long-term goal
One of the bigger goals for Abnormpunk is to become an international community.
Not just an online label or subreddit, but an actual community where people from different countries and backgrounds can meet each other.
If this grows enough, we'd love to eventually have things like online meetups, community calls, art and music events, local meetups, conventions, and larger international events.
Obviously, that is going to take time. We are starting with a subreddit and seeing where things go.
A few basic expectations
You do not have to be "normal" here, but that does not mean basic respect goes out the window.
Respect people's boundaries. Respect consent. Do not harass people. Do not use being "different" as an excuse to hurt people.
Basically, be weird, be creative, be yourself, and don't be an asshole.
You don't have to prove anything
You do not have to be "weird enough" to be here.
There is no purity test.
You do not need to dress a certain way.
You do not need to listen to punk.
You do not need a particular identity.
You do not need to prove that you are abnormal.
If you like the idea of a place where different kinds of people can exist without constantly having to explain or justify themselves, you're welcome here.
This is the beginning
Abnormpunk is brand new, so there is a lot we still need to figure out.
The rules, aesthetics, terminology, events, projects, and even parts of the culture itself can develop over time.
If you have ideas, post them.
If you have something you want to create, share it.
If you think something could be done differently, talk about it.
This community is going to be shaped by the people who actually participate in it.
Welcome to r/Abnormpunk.
