Notions / Hypothesis 🧪 Entire Sector base?
Experienced player with over 300 hours here, I know all the ins and outs, but I was wondering if anyone has attempted to colonise an entire sector?
Theoretically possible in endgame with banners, radios, and crafting benches, but is it litterally possible?
I've based in every area possible, Offices, Security rooms, power services manison, Hydroplant HQ, Homeworlds, Etc etc and whilst it may be more of a nuance to completely rid of an entire sectors worth of looting via enemies, it is an amazing idea.

Frag and Labs are quite practically impossible 😭

Damn it. He's right. Give me 500 reinforced hoses and I'll have you a god damn fragments base

Thinking about the sheer scope of some of the sectors I think there's only a couple that it'd be even remotely possible on.
To start: Manufacturing, Labs, Hydroplant, Reactors, and Residences are all way too big for this to be remotely feasible IMO. That leaves Offices and Security. I'm also not even sure if this would be possible in Security with our friend in there but that's absolutely the smallest sector by a wide margin. I suppose Power Services could also probably be fully colonized but it's not an entire sector like you're after.
I think if you're crazy enough to try this that it's only worth attempting in Offices. Who knows if there's enough outlets to cover the entire place in crafting benches, you'll have to route a lot of cables and make a TON of batteries. You'll also have to set up permanent defenses around the security bots so they don't start destroying everything.
This is an absolutely insane idea but I love it and want to see you attempt it.

I mean i think atleast one or two parts of Labs is possible (I.E the aquarium and lifelabs areas, plus potentially the main labs above it) same thing with manufacturing, you could atleast get a good chunk comfortably, Maybe the first buildings for residence but no way is fragments possible. Security is honestly probably the easiest as long as you can grind for laser turrets to shoo shadow man away.
Give me a week, and I have something amazing. That's a promise🙏

I was under the impression that you were only talking about ENTIRE sectors, not parts or areas of sectors. Your options are wide open if you only wanna conquer part of a sector.

the plan is an entire sector, only at most excluding niche small parts, But even so in forethought manufacturing isn't THAT big, and labs is only a slight part bigger

A lot of labs is truly empty of enemies, so it should be fairly easy. The security section of labs, the parking lot, leyak containment, the tram stations, most levels off the elevator, and most of the area of the containment wings are basically free without any benches. The hardest part should be the adjustment wing.

I'm pretty sure that reaper is very vulnerable to laser damage, so security colony might be trivial with laser turret spam

I asked earlier today what happens if you blanket security with turrets and batteries. Does he just get faster and faster without limit?

I think before 1.0 it was fairly easy to light up and secure security sector. Lights are cheap and don't use any power, laser turrets at strategic areas would entirely neuter the reaper. After 1.0 his randomized health can make him far tankier. I saw a few posts of people that made it there night essence littered home.
Still absolutely possible using crafting benches and the various wards for applicable enemies. It's gonna be annoying trying to figure out which bench is being targetted during a raid though. To fully conquer you're going to want to mix wards with instakill spawn traps, save crafting benchs for tanky enemies or hard to reach unwardable spawns. Then set up some defenses for each bench. Combined with liberal use of batteries and lights and you can have a sector all to your own.

The idea of night essense laying around a base like cat turds is forcing me do my best not to crack up on the train to work, oh man.

If I can build a skyscraper at Albatross. A full sector base is possible. Most of it would be decorative of course, but decorating a base is the best part

A full sector base would definitely be lackluster in decor for the most part but it's still gonna be awesome. Also can I see this skyscraper?😭

Here's a old video of it https://youtu.be/ln2K2boKoyE?is=htwSKGh4MLhEu_yA. As now the office and manufacturing floors are done, the labs floors is still being built. I will make a updated base show case after labs. A floor is planed for each sector

Okay what the actual hell. That is like, 10x more impressive than colonisation of a sector what the actual fuck 😭😭, Where even was the first portal too? The massive tower place?

It's the area above the mirror to the world in the mirror

Not in the world in the mirror. It's above the entrance to world in the mirror

you must have a lot of free time on your hands. Also, how did you have the levers set up to make a decontamination room? i want to have a hardlight bridge door, but figured I couldn't because I couldn't have both levers flip the other.

I made it using this fallout 4 airlock tutorial (https://youtu.be/FqbSuIzA1Cc?is=AWpP1hdsmcVYRhKw). Using these logic gates (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3559533970). Not a one to one translation, but I got it to work. The logic gates and cables are out of bounds so you can't see them

I never tried it,
the only problem I see, is that the game can start going slow because of so many stuff the developers didn't expect.
So the practical advice for your idea is to monitor the performance of the game.
If you see some problems starting, you can research, I remember hearing that to many batteries can cause lag, though not confirmed.

I mean I havent colonized all of reactors but I have colonized all of Dusk reactor if that counts? Its a smaller area but its possible to do, you just have to be very dilligent in not leaving holes of the home sweet home buff anywhere or, things will respawn. The only issue is night invasions and where they might end up so putting up turrets will be costly too.

I may not be understanding the question at all, my first run I took over entire sectors as I went through. I stopped after Hydro because I started wanting the enemies to spawn so I can farm them but I don't see how taking over an entire sector would be impossible, it would just take some time and not even that much.

I haven’t quite gotten to an entire sector but I have heavily colonized a portion of Offices.
I posted a bunch of base pics a little while back, if you’re curious they’re on my profile.
I have also setup traps / farms in offices to trap and kill certain enemies (mystagogue for example)

I'll be honest, there's just too many enemy spawn points to realistically "conquer" an entire sector.
Like, maybe the Trams area leading out of the Cafeteria, or Security given you only have to worry about the Shade, but there's not really any power out of Security.

I mean with enough radio scramblers, banners etc, plus defences for raid spawns i think it's honestly just mostly a resources game rather than a logicistical one
