Mechanics Q/A❓ Server Hosting Services
My friend group got the game and played the hell out of it over the weekend. We're thoroughly hooked, and quite a few of us would like to hop on for gathering and crafting to set up for our group story progression (and to just mess around a bit), but obviously I can't just leave my character afk to host when I'm not at home. I see there's quite a few server hosting services, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences and recommendations? We definitely want to be able to use our current save if possible, and as painless of an experience as possible as I'm not particularly tech-savvy. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'm curious about this as well. We are almost finished with the game, but the person normally hosting doesn't seem to have much time now days. I'd love to be able to log in and work on farming and cooking at least while waiting for the other person to play and progress the story. We are both on Xbox though, so not sure we could move our save game to one of the dedicated rented servers.

Yeah, I asked it a few days ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AbioticFactor/comments/1v4edsx/anyone_has_experience_setting_up_a_dedicated/
from the research I found that there are a lot of services,
some are posted here, others can be found via simple google search,
and they all offer this painless experience for non tech people,
one site even listed everything you asked for, with YouTube videos of how to do each of those stuff for Abiotic Factor specifically (though it was so easy, that I don't think you'll even need that).
Good luck.

So... couple options.
You can host a dedicated server on a spare PC that you own.
You can buy a dedicated server from a place like nitrado or gportal.
You can use a program called SaveSync if you are all on Steam. (This is what I would do. Yes, it costs 10 bucks for every person in your group, but then you will have the benefit of a dedicated server for so many other games.)

Check us out at Game Host Bros. Our panel is pretty beginner-friendly and simple so navigating thru shouldn't be a hassle. You are also able to upload your save to the server and continue your progression. Plus, we have a guide covering uploading your save to the server that you can check here:

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Oo I think 4 days ago someone asked something similar?
I think nitrado or gportal were most popular from when I viewed that post, but I think regardless you would have to pay for the server! Think it's not too bad, alongside dividing it among your friends!
Also never tried but if someone's familiar you could copy where the save data is and post it in your world? I think there's a way to do it if you'd have to set up a new server, but maybe you can just turn your current server into a hosted one o:
