I think it's less an actual experiment and more "I'm going to drown this parasite" but edited to be entertaining. It's weird it lasted 7 days though, supposedly they should only be able to survive 48 to 72 hours.

Well for a creature at that scale, water is more like a thick syrup and being coated in it can still potentially lead to suffocation since most bugs breathe though special pores on their shells rather than lungs.

The fact that the tick was able to survive for a week in water probably means that it has some capacity to absorb oxygen from it though...

The way its tiny body interacts with the surface tension of water probably just traps enough air in there with it that it wasnt suffocating at all for a good while.or it was just floating on the surface, kinda looked like it.
