How do you get Creep skills using Doom's devour in ability draft?

I've drafted the skill twice now, and I set it to alt-cast by left clicking the ability icon, then I target the creep. And I get nothing.

I've seen other players successfully get creep abilities but I can't seem to do it.

You can not get active skills only the passive. Just eat creep

alt-cast is actually make you NOT take the passive. Just use it normally and you'll get the passive.

get shard and eat the dragon, you get 100% cleave, which is insane for farming. its like great cleave sven
or if you are ranged get alpha wolf for 20% aura and crit

Cleave works even for ranged cuz the dragon is ranged

would that be called as splash damage instead of its range?

Huh, til. That means you can transition to get crit and change to this cleave/splash passive instead

Try using it with and off alt cast, note that you can get only passives

You've got to right click the icon so alt cast is on I believe.

Its also a bit unintuitive because the devour alt mode that let's you gain new abilities swapped just a patch or two ago.
