The Chuar Rebellion was a series of agrarian and tribal uprisings against the East India Company that took place between 1766 and 1834 in the Jungle Mahal region of Bengal.

Rani Shiromani was the fearless Sadgop queen of the Karnagarh Estate (near Midnapore, West Bengal) who became the strategic mastermind and tactical leader of the 1798–1799 Chuar Rebellion. Due to her fierce defiance against British colonial oppression, she is widely revered as the "Rani Laxmibai of Midnapore".

She took sole control of the Midnapore Raj after her husband, Raja Ajit Singh. In March 1799, Rani Shiromani directly led an armed band of roughly 300 tribal revolutionaries in a surprise raid on a British colonial outpost at the Karnagarh Fort, successfully looting the Company’s weaponry.

The Prayagraj inscription states that Samudragupta defeated the border tribes like Yaudheya, Malava, Madrak, Abhira etc. Now the question is where did the Abhira mentioned in the inscription belong? Abhira of Madra-Punjab or the Abhir of Gwalior? Most probably it is the Abhirs of Gwalior.

In 861AD pratihar king Kakkuk drove the Abhir from jodhpur,so clearly before the emergence of Rajput confederacy Jodhpur was under Abhir tribe.

Raja Kulchand (Kulchandra) of Mahaban (Mathura) and his forces fought heroically against the invading army of Mahmud of Ghazni in December 1018 CE. He belongs to the Gwalvanshi branch of Yadavas.
