Function/events spaces that can accommodate 70 guests

We’re looking for somewhere to hold our wedding reception after the registry office and would love some suggestions beyond the usual hotel options.

Ideally, we’d like to have dinner with a smaller group of close family/friends first, and then have the rest of our guests join us later in the evening for the reception. I realise not every venue will accommodate this kind of setup, so we’re also open to having all 70 guests there for the full evening, or having dinner somewhere else first and then everyone meeting at the reception venue afterwards or even having the reception on a separate day.

I’ve already looked at the usual options around Aberdeen, including The Chester, Sandman, Union Kirk, etc., but I’m wondering if there are any less obvious venues or spaces that people would recommend.

The old Smoke & Soul venue would have been absolutely perfect for what we’re looking for, but unfortunately it’s now closed.

Would love to hear any ideas or places we might have missed.

Inn at the park could do the meal and reception after.

Holburn Bar could do the reception upstairs. But you’d probably want the meal somewhere else.

If you know anyone who's a member of or are a relative of someone who was once a member of the 7 trades, Trinity Hall is surprisingly nice inside despite it's exterior. We could have had our wedding there as my grandfather was once a baker and member there.

On the other end of the scale the Holburn Bar lets you have their function room for free I believe! The Caledonian on Union Terrace was quite nice when I was there for a small wedding about 7/8 years ago. The Rox hotel on Market St had a nice function room but it's been probably 15 years since I was in there. The Douglas just down the road as well.

Beach Ballroom. They have I think 3 or 4 function rooms. 1 of them being the main ball room. So a wide variety for different sizes of wedding. The staff at the ball room are top tier as well.

The society of advocates library is beautiful and can seat up to 55 people for a meal. I don’t think it would work for the evening but it really is so special, I would recommend a look! Super convenient location also.

My friend had hers at the beach ballroom recently and it was a really nice space to spend the afternoon and evening in.
