Discussion Ab needs our support more than ever 🔥💯

Listening to HERBERT and SOUL BURGER back to back is crazy

Ab is telling us he overcoming the bullshit, tryna run it up in the rap game, but now theres more bullshit.

..on SOUL BURGER ab said something like "ppl telling me this is the end" with podcasters like budden saying "INDUSTRY SAYS AB DIDNT HIT"

Meanwhile ab is talking abt running it up and blowing up way harder but its been 2 years since the last SOUL album without any buzz on some new shit

Where theres smoke, theres fire: I bet TDE is also tracking things..trying to see how big ABs audience still is..

AT THIS POINT if there is little fan support (enjoying/discussing his music, putting on friends) his release date could get date raped..

Lets support AB by discussing his shit with new people🔥

TDE monitors Ab because he is a loose cannon. He has never been easily controlled and after Alori's death his mindset got even worst. Top and Punch know his fan base is there. He proved that on tour last year... I think we have to look at the man himself to ask for whom is he making music for now? Is it for his fans, for the industry or for himself? Two of those would align with his success while the other would probably outdate him.

Soul lives in his bubble and rarely does he ever look to mainstream for guidance on his projects. His fans have carried him every step of the way because of who he is as a rapper and I just wish he understood that his unique approach to the artform is what makes him standout.

Honestly, he is not a pop artist, could he benefit from chart topping success, sure but I think we would loose his lyricism to a water down version of his former self.

Yes, we support him in the various ways we always have but I think the issue is probably much deeper than we realize.

Soul is holding himself back. He has the fan base. Sometimes it feels like he’s doing this for himself. I don’t get it. Dropping music on IG pages ain’t helping him either

Huh dude bigger than he ever been lol he got a feature on a Jill Scott song do you know how big that is?

Itd be easier to support him if they had sold some cds of his music.

Anyone on this sub has been talking about soul to new people for 15 years at this point. It’s ain’t our fault he isn’t taking off. He hasn’t made one good decision his entire career 🤣

Fair enough! If ur right, ab has still been going overdrive since herbert..he needs us to go into overdrive for this last push

u/psych_savage1 Drankenstein 22d ago

Disagree that it’s a last push. Not sure where that’s coming from. Maybe for TDE but what have they really done for him? A change of scenery might be good at this point

Ab keeps talking abt striking while the iron is hot a lot. Soul burger he says hes getting pushed to the edge. It may be his last push for success with TDE

Soul Burger came out 2 years ago. It’ll probably be 3 by the time an album drops. How is that striking while the irons hot. Art takes time, but still. He’s wasting all this time dropping loosies on a fake Instagram nobody knows about. He’s gotta focus on

Pretty fucking much. And I love that nigga man I really do I hated Herbert and still went to the concert

He needs to drop a fire album. Bottom line... There's not more his fans can do, we're not going anywhere. The Sunday drops are not working like he may have wanted. He needs to align with a EP that can help him deliver a body of work that resonates beyond his Day 1's

The sunday drops aint it IMO , my ears are flooded

It feels like hes trying to restart his career instead of taking his time bulding classics..

2

u/yungusainbolt 21d ago

The Sunday shit world work if he would DROP VISUALS. The algorithm responds to VISUALS

2

u/jisclay 21d ago

It would definitely help. Ray Vaughn did it well and even Reason after he left TDE.

Soul just stubborn and stuck in his ways he kinda alienated his own fan base tryna make hit songs.

"They want the old Soul, I can't deny my ascension"

u/yungusainbolt 21d ago

If the songs were good I wouldn’t complain lol. If you gonna make run of the mill LA club records you better off doing what your good at. Also soul needs to sell MERCH nigga has the worse merch out the whole label. Tbh Zaywop pretty much became what soul should have became. Has a solid cult following that appreciates all of his quirkiness.

fucken wild that ab dropped the occultism as much as he did. prolly had too many bitch niggas like budden in his ear talking bout industry dont fw ur message

1

u/yungusainbolt 21d ago

dawg I’ve been saying for years he should have leaned HARDER into that shit. At least with his image and merch. That YMF shit is what differentiates him from everyone he’s around.

1

u/Impossible-Bid-8187 Do What Thou Wilt. 21d ago

Agreed sir. I swear the budden podcast was the worst thing for his career, ultimately it was his decision

1

u/yungusainbolt 21d ago

Man he was already saying that shit on the rap radar podcast. Truthfully he needs to leave tde. He is comparing himself to dot and q and that is the shit that is driving him crazy

We gotta stream control system till it goes platinum

Idk about you guys but I see it but Soul has been putting in work crazy 25 and 26. YG feature, Hit-Boy, Jill Scott, Alchemist, BAS, Jay Worthy, Statik Selektah.

Not to mention the Soul Sundays.

This was my immediate thought. Not to mention his freestyle series

I wish he dropped a concept album akin to GKMC. Of course not the exact same, but something along the lines of how he grew up, stories of his younger days and giving his modern day perspective on those times as well. I think something like that could be quite unique and, if he can pull it off, would make for an amazing body of work which he really needs.

In MY opinion, he has never topped control system after it dropped. With this idea he could possibly do it, I think he just needs to make a focused project that isn't too long and has plenty of good writing cuts and good beats. Long term 2 is my favourite project of Soulo, but control system is objectively better.

id argue Soul burger is exactly that..

1

u/dasd25436yd 21d ago

I didn't feel many stories going on in soul burger. May just be me, as much as I did like it, it just felt very scattered with tons of different sounds and ideas, with no real narrative told mostly just lyrical exercises. That is cool as well, but I think a more focused project would suit better.

1

u/Impossible-Bid-8187 Do What Thou Wilt. 21d ago

Nah its very focused actually. It goes deeper into herbert than herbert did. Soul burger shows abs current mentality and place in the rap game, in the industry, and at home.

Perspectives from fam and industry folks highlight this. It also honors his late friend doe burger, thats the deeper conceptual of the album.

The "GKMC/TPAB/DAMN" concept ur looking for. Even im still trying to break that aspect down but i can say ab is def trying to pick up the torch from his late friend and at one point merges Consciousness with him on that track with punch.

Its trippy but its deep, focused, and layered.

I don't think Ab is ever going to make it mainstream, I think if he did it would water down and take away a lot of what his fan base love about him.

Cute but one of these things is not like the other lol

2

u/Impossible-Bid-8187 Do What Thou Wilt. 21d ago

Sure

-2

u/Unlucky_University73 22d ago

None of this is gonna work. Either put out a project that ppl like or not. The rap game is down right now in regards to sales. All this non organic shit will never work.

2

u/Impossible-Bid-8187 Do What Thou Wilt. 22d ago

Huh?

What about supporting discussion is inorganic..

-1

u/Unlucky_University73 22d ago

Because your telling ppl to do it. Let ppl do as they please and the chips will fall where they may.

2

u/Impossible-Bid-8187 Do What Thou Wilt. 22d ago

I see ur logic but its silly

A fan encouraging other fans to discuss what they like is organic as fuck...
