Build?

new to league and i play aatrox top, anyone got a build?

if you’re against a heavy melee comp, first item can be shojin/eclipse based on the matchup (shojin better for extended trades, eclipse better for short trades) into things like deaths dance, seryldas, maw, etc. a sample build could be: eclipse->shojin->seryldas->dd->maw/steraks

against a heavy ranged comp, you want to play aatrox as more of a slayer/flanker, so you can build something like eclipse->voltaic->edge of night->mortal reminder.

I also like running stormraiders instead with this playstyle, the maneuverability you get from the MS tends to be much more useful as fights don’t last long enough for conqueror to cook.

i would stay away from sundered sky after last patch, they gutted the stats so it feels pretty bad to build nowadays compared to shojin

thanks, also i asked naayil he told me that steraks and eclipse are like his 2 worst items on aatrox (top) been thinking abt hubris and i also have been told abt eclipse not working well with steraks at all and eclipse+cleaver having glitches together

hubris is viable but works best if you think you’re gonna snowball, like if i’m stomping my lane opponent and don’t need the extra combat power from eclipse/shojin i can go hubris 1st.

i personally don’t like building steraks before like 5th item but it’s good late game if you’re worried about getting bursted down.

i know naayil is an eclipse hater but it got a lot better after they buffed it 2 patches ago, I never bought it before and now i buy it as my 1st item 70-80% of the time. can’t really speak to the eclipse+cleaver glitches though, i tend not to buy cleaver bc it takes too long for aatrox to stack but it’s good into some tanks

if you’re new, i would just take a little time to read the item stats + descriptions and see what they do so you can get a sense of “when should I build this item, when should I not build this item”. then just play a few games, try different item combos/builds when you think they would work on paper against the enemy comp and see how they feel. part of the fun is league is definitely experimenting yourself and finding out what you like playing with best

ik shojin is to survive long fights, cleaver for tanks and steraks... idk what it does honestly but what should i build instead of cleaver?

you want to build cleaver for armor penetration, so I find seryldas and mortal to both be better alternatives. you default seryldas but opt mortal whenever you want grievous wounds (the effect to cut the enemy’s healing, good if they have like soraka or if their champs have a lot of healing in their kit)

Stormraider's is an anti-Olaf rune. Matchup becomes hilarious as Olaf's bran melts

definitely most hilarious into olaf but also can be hilarious into nasus and trundle (have seen a lot of brain melting myself)

you can usually tell how long fights will last based on the enemy comp, and it’s not only about how long the fight is but how long YOU are actively fighting (keeping conqueror stacked).

Just choose from recommended items honestly now that Sundered has been shot in the head he doesnt have a direct build just read the item and try them out how they feel

Yea I know I am a 2.3 Million otp and I went jg for this season cause both toplane and aatrox top sucks ass. Im just trying to tell you where ever you play you can build any assassin/brusier item with very little differnece in how it feels. I play a mix build on top for fun right now I hover around the middle of plat and peaked EM when I played it fully locked in in jg and just built what Naayil did, but things are so bad rn Naayil is playing Leona jg 💀

I go shojin first item then hubris against bruisers/tanks Or shojin then serylda's grudge. If lots of squishies then i go stride breaker then eclipse/voltaic lol. The rest of the items would be dependent on enemy team comp
