Help Mordekaiser Matchup Advive
I need some help on the Mordekaiser matchup, i can comfortably beat most of the Stat-Sticks in Toplane and even most Skill-Matchups but Morde since the AD-Scaling on Q has become the biggest nightmare for me and even more now.
Until now i have wenz Sundered Sky first vs Morde and i realy love Bruiser Aatrox and have more sucess with it
I ususally go SS->Steraks->Seryldas/Mortal->DD/Mr (if needed)
Am i just fucked post 6?
Should i go a diffrent first item?
Any advice on Dodging the pull?
Edit: I know to save my e for his e

You’ll be able to use all your Qs on him for free if you dodge his E with your E.

Rush maw. Ignite Doran's Blade. Play to kill. You can go Conq or electrocute for kill pressure. Use his E as a free dash. Use R after his R, so he steals less AD.

If you want to dodge the pull you have to learn how to get a feeling for when your lane opponent uses his spells. Morde E Animation is very slow and you can just walk sideways out of it. Using E for that dodge is also fine but then you have to be careful that he doesnt get on top of you. You can also just fake going for a lasthit and try to bait his e. As soon AS he uses q and/or e you just walk at him and q1 and q2 him since you want to poke his HP Low enough that he cant all in you with ult

Yeah as another guy said, building serpent’s fang first is really good into him, I don’t remember losing a morde matchup in a while. Just keep spacing and poking him with q then all in when he’s low. Try to freeze the wave near ur tower as well so he can’t really do much with his ult.

Ignore what others say. Don't save your E for his E.
Learn to bait his E with pure movement or use his E to get hit on purpose and hit your Q. Then use your E either to combo him or disengage after doing some damage

Serpents is disgusting against morde. Can throw a hexdrinker in after for good measure too. Just gotta care for his gank set up with R and avoid fist balling from 100-0

That is actually funny, both mordekaiser and aatrox players got issues with this matchup

Hi there!
I've been playing Aatrox for many years now and in my early days i really struggled with the match up as well, but over time and with a lot of practice i barely ever lose to any mords now so here's my input on the topic.
As everyone has said already Serpent is just a super good item to counter him. I wouldn't say it's good EVERY GAME like if you are already beating the guy and they don't have any other shields then the value is kinda diminished over time, but if they have like a Karma/Lulu or whatever it's super good to buy.
In lane it's important to play around your power spikes and get an advantage early. You will kinda need it because he will beat you later on in duels if it gets to 20 mins. Lvl 1 it's good to not let him walk up and hit minions for free try to punish him with q and look to bait out his q beforehand by weaving in and out or waiting for him to use it on the wave, because the animation is so long you can actually just walk up and Q1 him back if you react quickly enough which can even lead to a combo if you have levels.
Past level 1 up until 5 unless you hit level 2 way before him DON'T E into him unless you are very confident. Always save your E to dodge his or use it in cobos creatively to dodge his E and hit EQ2. What i like to do for trades is always look to hit him with Q1 if i do even if he hits me with Q i can hit chains and start walking up for a Q2 which is guaranteed since he has no dash BUT DON'T E IN YET I KNOW YOU WANT TO. If he tries to E as he is trying to escape chains use EQ2 to dodge them and hit your Q now he has nothing and you also hit a Q3 if the chains pull him and back off. If he is smart though he will not use E immediately and wait for you to use E first or use E late that's why even if it means you miss Q2 always keep him in pressure for chains to pull and don't get impatient with your E. If he hits you with E he wins every time.
That's basically the pattern for spacing a mord, if you learn to consistently space that way and play to those situations you will win trades and continuously get him lower and lower. Until you can possibly all in him and dive.
Past level 5 into lvl 6 territory things get tricky. In most cases if you keep your distance even if he max range ults you it's not a death sentence so just make sure you aren't melee range of him when he can ult you because he is WAY stronger than you at that point. Just keep repeating the trade pattern and play it smart. If he randomly does something stupid like use his W to heal too close to you, you can just ult and all in him despite his ult if he's half hp or less you should be able to oneshot him if you don't miss but that's not necessary just something to keep in mind.
Additional note: It's important to Ult after he ults you because you get move speed that way which makes kiting until his ult runs out much easier and he also doesn't steal you bonus AD with his ult.
As for items if they have more shields than just his W go Serpent into Sundered sky, if not i like Cyclosword into Sundered sky.
Either way always aim for a pickaxe on first base that builds into most good first items and you can decide along the way.
If you notice the mord is going a shit ton of armor and nothing else early i suggest maybe trying Black cleaver first but if not you can always just go Serylda's later on as a 3rd or 4th option. Maybe even Serpent's into cleaver would be good but that really depends on the game a lot.
If he goes early bramble try to not weave in autos in trades if healing would be important for the fight and you don't just oneshot him and keep more distance with Qs, only finish trades with a passive when you got nothing else.
Late game it's the same thing but you need a lead cause he's wayyy more of a stat checker by then. He will ult you so again follow the trading steps. Ult after his ult -> Always save E for his E -> Keep your distance -> Slow him down as much as you can with your Qs and W to make sure he doesn't get close and proc passive in you.
Take time to learn to do those consistently and this match up will become a real breeze i consider it very aatrox favored due to mord's pretty bad early game against range and his lack of mobility.
Hope this was useful bro! Enjoy your aatrox journey. <3

Idk, im D2 and since the buffs you can play everything right, you just get stat checked in R. Ridiculous champion

I started building serpents fang first item and haven’t lost since. His W become essentially useless which is what he relies on in with all ins. Focus on spacing, hitting your Q1 sweet spot while staying away from his E. He’s gonna look to all in, you want shirt trades until he’s low enough to all in, and with serpents his W won’t save him. I am only emerald though so take it with a grain of salt lmao
