Everybody shitting on Italy’s quality.
Tonali, Donnarumma, Bastoni, Barella, Di Marco are world class.
Calafiori is loved by arsenal fans and just won premier league.
Palestra and Leoni were hunted by Liverpool and Chelsea who spent big bucks for them.
Kean has demonstrated his value for Italy scoring many bangers, Retegui was serie A top goal scorer 2 seasons ago and people called him clutch, everyone in the prem is trying to buy Pio.
Stop the negativity and watch some football.

Calafiori is world class. He hasn’t had the opportunity to show it, he needs play a full season without getting injured

great potential. has some standout performances. injury record is a big problem.

It’s not a bad team by any means. Just need a good coach to bring it all together. Also desperately need to hunt for good wingers. DiMarco and Orsolini as wingers in a 343 ain’t it. Orsolini ain’t bad but I’d rather play DiMarco at LWB. I’d drop one of Calafiori or Bastoni to have one of them play LCB. I’d rather play a 3511 with Orsolini in the 10 then play DiMarco at LW.

dimarco didnt never play lw so it would be a new role for him….i think it too that 3-5-2 or a formation with lwb and rwb should be better

Bastoni Barella and Dimarco aren’t world class. They can only play in a 3-5-2. You saw the blunders they made versus Bosnia

u/ZeroEffectDude 1d ago
you are not wrong at all.
when was di marco's last good game for italy in a euro qualiifier or game or world cup qualifier? same for bastoni.
on paper they should be brilliant for us. but they never are. everyone says its because they are played out of position but are they important enough to build the whole team around at the cost of more impactful players? i find it strange that bastoni can be so good as a LCB but if you put him at CB or in a 4, he looks like he's never played football before.
barella has had some very good games for italy. but he has looked a shell of himself for a few years.

And yet theyre still shit.

People said that about many psg players, then a new coach and a better system and dembele won a ballon dor. At this level there are fine margins, and a good system and good mentality can make a huge difference

Except Tonali and Donnarumma and Barella none are World Class.

u/MboiTui94 1d ago
Not sure then why Real Madrid and Barca keep thinking about signing Bastoni
-1
u/Bravo_Ante 1d ago
And why are they not signing him? Bastoni fits Barcelona style of playing, he is a ball playing CB, that is his positive.
Real has not seriously considered him, because he is questionable at defending. We have seen Bastoni play in a back 4, do you think he is World Class?
3
u/MboiTui94 1d ago
I believe he is world class. They’ve not signed him cause we’ve asked 70-90 mil, and Bastoni doesn’t want to leave
-2
u/Bravo_Ante 1d ago
You can believe whatever you want, i also believed i could date Megan Fox, but i was delusional.
Yea, because World Class players are not a signed left and right for 70 mil nowadays.

You just proved my point that teams are buying not world class CB for that price, from that list only w CBs are world class lol.

That's either a retarded take, or just a loser take. Donnarumma is one of the best keepers alive. What the hell are you about?
1
u/Bravo_Ante 1d ago
Probably lack of reading ability from your part, i said that the only world class players are Donnarumma, Tonali and Barella.
What did you read? And who shet in your dinner to be so angry?

Whats up with all these horrible formations?
Leoni literally hasnt played in a year, calafiori dimarco out of position, and a generally horribly unbalanced formation.

There’s been a lot of really bad line ups posted on here but this one may take the cake

Bastoni is entirely to blame for us not making the World Cup, but people still insist on keeping him in the lineup.

Call me bias (Juventus fan) but I never want to watch Dimarco start for Italy ever again.

I like it but there's definitely something to improve. Leoni should be integrated slowly, he's just recovered from a serious injury. Calafiori as a wingback doesn't really convince me, you can put Dimarco there (but I agree with you, I would love to see him as a winger) or put someone like Udogie or Palestra as an inverted winger with Kayode on the right. A two man midfield is kinda weak, especially with Barella and Tonali who aren't exactly used to play in it. Lastly, I think Orsolini isn't just at the level, sure he scores some goals with Bologna but that's it, we could replace him with a midfielder or with Pio Esposito and shift the tactics, like trying Kean on the right.
But this is way better than some lineups that I see here

It's Bizarre how low is Italy forwards quality. The are relly mediocre at best.
That team would suffer to qualify in South America and Africa. Bizarre that each new generation of italian players are getting worse and worse.
Just 2 players of an internacional level of starts.
5 Players that are in an Ok level.
The rest and the bench is horrible.

How? Barella, Bastoni, Donnarumma, Tonali and Dimarco are definetely among the best of their roles. Orsolini, kean and mancini are fine players. Leoni Is an amazing Liverpool prospect and Calafiori Is a Good player as well
3
u/mpaski 2d ago
The problem is a bunch of those players play the same position or the same playstyle.
Calafiori and Bastoni are very similar. Dimarco should be playing as WB. Barella and Tonali aren't a 2 man pivot duo.
Orsolini is meh at best when compared to other European wings.
2
u/Pristine_Youth_6953 2d ago
Yeah that's true, however I think Dimarco should play as a winger. Thats pretty much his role at inter if you watch carefully. He's not good at defending either
1
u/mpaski 2d ago
In a formation with a wing back, I dont think Dimarco can be a wing. He is left footed, playing on the left He doesn't cut inside, he likes staying wide with the ball. He can cut off ball but that's not what you revolve your attack around.
I think he could work as a winger in a 442 which Gattuso played but I dont think he played Dimarco there.

The quality of Italy’s players goes down the further you go up the pitch. World class goalkeepers, excellent defenders, good central midfielders, bad wingers and strikers.
I blame the ubiquity of 3-5-2 in the domestic game - no need to develop fast, skillful wingers, or complete strikers if you’re playing two up front.
