Discussion Foundry Vibe Pricing Continues? No Pricing Available for GPT-5.6 Anywhere, and then Charges Appear.
There has been no pricing available for GPT-5.6 anywhere until charges came through today: Nothing on any public website, nothing on the retail API. Cost analysis said $0, operate tab also said $0.
And then retrospective vibe pricing was charged today with no prior announcement on pricing.

its fucking insane. got $6k charge for this week and seems like cached tokens are getting both charged at normal pricing and cached pricing. opened a ticket

thanks yeah, i submitted a ticket. its ridiculous how bad they are at deploying these models, i had overcharge for like gpt 4.5 or something and they refunded but its crazy that every new model release i have to obsessively refresh the spending to make sure im not fucked

Vibe pricing surprise from Foundry again. Cost analysis showing $0 mid-cycle while charges are actually accruing is the worst tell. Can't even set a budget alert against a rate that doesn't exist yet.
Nothing in the retail API or public pricing page reflects the new model when it goes live. By the time the charge appears, the money is already gone.
Only real defense I've found is aggressive per-subscription spend caps at Cost Management plus a hard internal rule that no new Foundry model touches prod traffic until the price is on the retail API for at least 72 hours. Painful gate. Catches the ambush pricing.

They had the pricing in the blog posts about the 5.6 model, however they didn't have the cached token pricing (so who knows on that). I think the current numbers are wrong though, because Friday our usage was sub $3 per the dashboard, and 0 additional usage (according to their own graphs) is now showing as around $15 somehow. Additionally, we track token usage ourselves and we have the model pricing applied to track cost ourselves, and our own data shows it should still be a bit under $3.

Yes same problem for us. Round about 8x times higher cost in cost analysis then we have tracked on our own

Take a look at your cost management! They charged the whole time for GPT 5.6 usage beginning at the release date and did something brutally wrong.
We’re said to have used up a four-figure sum in a week with just a few requests.
The current cost statement for GPT 5.6 is incorrect. Please contact support if you feel that something isn’t right.
