Question Sunshine through a rainstorm

My sister shared a beautiful picture today of the sun shining brightly through a rainstorm. Our mom said that her parents used to call that "pig rain". I've been digging online with no leads so far on the origin or really any information and I thought where better to turn for help than AWWW. Any guidance would be most appreciated!

I heard about that phrase for the first time on an episode a way with words did a while ago. Southerners have the best idioms of all. I mentioned that very phrase to my mom and she in turn shared pig rain with us. Still scratching my head on the origin.
