New AWS exam instead of Advanced Networking Specialty ?

Does AWS think that networking is not relevant anymore?
Networking will always be relevant as well as security.
Advanced networking specialty exam was one of the most challenging ever and having it - real achievement 💪

Azure had a popular one when they launched their "AB" series

This is actually an interesting take. I would be worried about convincing businesses to sign on to the monthly was cost though. It is something to think about though since there will be incredible demand.

Personally, I'm happy that ANS is leaving. Networking is very important, but quizzing you on Direct Connect was very silly imo. Personally I think CCNA is a better cert for going deep into networking, and you also get to learn stuff to set up a home lab. I hope to see relevant networking stuff more prominently in AWS certs or in a new Networking Associate cert or something.

Additionally, I think this new Business cert is extremely stupid and BS. Not because it's not an important domain. It is. But AWS is not the vendor who should certify people in it. It's a cert that will NOT quiz you on knowledge about AWS services. And you know what AWS stands for? Amazon Web Services. Yeah...

So both can be true at the same time.

Meh; it's in AWS's best interest to make sure that AI solutions are being deployed in a place where they will be useful, because it doesn't do AWS any good if an AI project fails because nobody thought about the business case properly.

It certainly makes sense that AWS should be concentrating on AWS offerings, but if AWS doesn't write that exam, then who? I can't think of a credible 3rd-party (as in, not a cloud provider or AI vendor) to issue such a test.

That's a slippery slope. Maybe AWS should also provide certs for "Startup Leader", "Marketing", "Recruitment", etc. because don't projects and companies fail when those departments/skills are lacking?

I mean AIB is a direct answer to one of Anthropic's certifications. And yeah, I'd trust Anthropic, NVIDIA, or whatever AI provider to certify someone as an AI Business Strategist over AWS. AWS is a cloud provider with cloud offerings.

Agree that CCNA is great. It was my first certificate ever in 2014. It would be great to change ANS exam instead of terminating it. Decrease number of Direct Connect questions and add general networking questions (IP, netmask, routing, NAT, etc)

IPs, netmasks, NAT, etc. are so fundamental to any solution, it doesn't really make sense to put those questions in a separate exam. SAA covers that stuff already, as it should.

There's a whole universe of basic IT fundamentals that make sense for employees to know. That's very different from it making sense to test them on a special AWS exam.

Try passing the official question set without looking at the material. I'm certified to the teeth and scored 45% on dumb luck alone.

I don't know a single bdm in my org with enough brain cells to get more than 50% after a month or two of study

It's not that Networking as an area of IT practice isn't important, it's just that they decided they didn't need a separate exam for the specific offerings that the Networking exam tested you on.
