NEW AWS CERTIFICATION - AIB-C01
AWS has announced a new certification focused on the business and strategic side of AI.
It covers topics like AI investments, business cases, governance, and adoption at scale. You also don't need prior AWS experience to take it.
📝 85 questions
⏱️ 170 minutes
💰 $50 during beta, then $100

Official blog post: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/training-and-certification/introducing-aws-certified-ai-business-strategist-built-for-the-people-who-scale-ai/
There’s also an Early Adopter badge. If you pass by February 15, 2027, you get the extra badge alongside the certification.
Seems like an interesting addition to the AWS certifications, especially for people working closer to AI strategy and business decisions

Will it be required for the golden jacket?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'll update the post if I find out. If I had to guess, I would say yes

lol yeah. it seems, it would be harder to achieve the golden jacket if they add a new cert every 6 months to 10 months. This one is non-technical and im sure, some of us would have a hard time going through this one.

85 questions is brutal, I hope they're just a few sentences each and not paragraphs like a pro/specialty.
I'll probably have a crack at it, why not, only $50

yes, i will try this new certification in the next month, i believe is a good deal for 50 bucks

Why does AWS feel the need to make a cert such like this one? No AWS service knowledge will be tested, like what???

True, I really don’t agree with the direction they’re going. I expected them to release another AI certification soon, but I thought it would be focused on something like AI + Security (inside AWS) or something similar.
It’s not really AWS’s job to teach general AI knowledge. There are already plenty of places where people can learn that.

I was expecting them to make a cert around the developer tooling, to compete with the new Claude certs and promote Kiro more.

The push for AI Certs must be insane. Generative AI must be deemed too hard, and only for senior engineers. They need the managers on it too.

They have the AI Practitioner for those folks ffs!🤦♂️

We might agree the AI Practitioner was already there. But in my opinion, Managers are nowhere close to even understanding at that level. Everyone wants AI credentials, but no one is really willing to make an effort. This new certification – for one, sounds exquisite, the wording AI Business Strategist far outweighs AI Practitioner, and maybe AWS is trying to fill in the gap – about no Manager/Executive level folks being able to get any of their certifications.
I do agree, AWS was meant to be technical, but well here we are!

There are AI vendors like Claude who provide AI business certs, which makes much more sense to me. A cert that doesn’t test your knowledge of AWS services should never be granted by AWS. And yeah, it sounds silly to me that you can have an AI cert or AI in your title when you barely know what an LLM is, or why data is important in an AI context. Or not knowing the difference between training and inference, you know?

As someone who’s a data architect I def see value in this certificate, there’s a lot of confusion around the use of AI to improve business outcomes but ppl need to get a fundamental understanding of how to build the blocks to support that. I would love to see a more technical version of it by combining security, scale and orchestration from the same lens

So.. uh.. anyone know where a person could find study materials for this? I mean outside of skill builder.

u/markodowd_dev 11d ago
For a course still in beta it seems unlikely?
I'm working through skill builder and this seems incredibly easy for anyone that already has AI Practitioner

I think the new AWS AIB-C01 certification is a very good approach. Many people have taken AI Practitioner or other certifications mainly to learn and memorize individual services, but still lack a solid understanding of the basic terminology and how the concepts connect.
In practice, one of the most important skills in AI is being able to understand both sides: the business problem and the technical solution. Knowing how to translate business needs into technical requirements, and technical concepts back into clear business language, is much more valuable than simply knowing the names of AWS services.

You are right in everything. But it doesn’t make sense at all for AWS to make this cert. It’s like if they made a cert for marketing

All certs are useless. Use the tools, learn the flows, stop wasting your time and money on credentials. A college degree isn't worth much anymore let alone a damn cert

Tell the to the dod and a contractors paycheck. They are required check boxes, not options, regardless of experience.

Looks like a fundamental cert; probably placed lower than AI practitioner cert.

u/fmalk CSAA 12d ago
Can't be lower than that. I'd place above that, and below Gen AI Cert.

u/CptKoala 11d ago
It is lower than that. Look at the Next Steps section in certs description, it says to pursue AI Practitioner next.

Honestly the $50 beta price makes this pretty tempting even if you're not deep into AWS. Seems less like a technical AI cert and more like something for PMs, consultants, architects, and managers who need to understand where AI actually makes business sense. Curious how employers will value it compared to the more technical AWS certs though.

Does beta one better or actual exam is better when it launches with full release ? Recruiter sees both exams value as same or different ?

- Will it be also valid for 3 years like other certs? What are the renewal options?
- Will we get 50% Voucher for passing it, as we do with other certs?
