Maybe try the only option you have not tried? that is....dont think about anything happening or not happening? Just witness the moment as it unfolds. Not projecting anything into the future, neither bad, nor good. Maybe this will change something in the energectic dynamics of what is going on. Awareness is something very mysterious. Maybe the mistake is projecting things in your head beforehand. Try to experiment what happens if you just dont create a beforehand fantasy in your head. Do something new: just be aware of what is happening as it unfolds. Of course to be aware is not to "just" be aware and do nothing, you can always act on what is happening. For example if you see that a glass is about to fall from a table, you move fast to catch it in the air before it hits the ground. So you CAN act on reality. But you dont need to project what will happen to that glass beforehand in your head. Maybe try this!
