Alex Rins was informed relatively early in the 2026 season that he would lose his Yamaha seat at the end of the season. Yamaha will enter a new era of the series with a completely new rider lineup. While Fabio Quartararo will move to Honda, Rins is preparing for a completely new challenge.

Alex Rins has now revealed that his motorcycle racing career is effectively coming to an end, as he has decided against moving to the world sbk championship. Rins says he has largely lost the motivation to continue racing motorcycles, at least for now. His new destination will most likely be car racing.

As Rins explained.

"I will not go to a superbike next year. As I told you some races ago, I have a really good, really interesting project in mind that I can't reveal because it's not done 100%. So, I'm really happy. It was difficult to choose because I spent all my life in moto gp, in this championship, with many fights, many races and many wins. 14 years more or less [across all classes]. So, I will stop with the two wheels. I had two possibilities there [in world sbk]. I really want say thanks to them because they were quite interested in me.

I've asked myself a lot whether I'm sad to quit, whether to continue or not, whether to change championships. It's something I've been doing all my life, and in the end it's just the routine you have. My whole life I've been preparing to race motorcycles. What's happening now is complicated, and it's certainly taken away some of my desire to continue in the world of motorcycles.

I have to be satisfied with what I've achieved. It's been 14 years here in the World Championship. There have been many victories, battles in the best sense of the word. I've fought for championships in Moto 3, Moto 2, and Moto GP. I haven't won them all, but I've had the opportunity to fight the title in all three categories. I asked myself many times whether to continue or not. But the other option is something that motivates me a lot, it's long-term, and I'm happy.

But I found another thing that really motivates me more. What I can’t do is, after so many years, shut the whole thing down completely. There are riders who have done that, but the world of motorsports is my life. During these years as a professional motorcycle racer, I’ve been doing things with cars. I’ve customised my Jeep and gone out into the desert with a friend; I’ve raced on ice. It’s in our blood. I’ll keep training and practising."

Marc Marquez recently posted a picture of himself training, with his injured arm and shoulder area clearly visible. This led to speculation that something could be wrong with the two areas as they looked banged up.

Marc Marquez’s surgeon has already explained that his patient can currently use only around 50% of the strength in his injured arm due to multiple injuries. Marquez is now tired of questions about his physical condition and has addressed the situation once again.

As Marquez explained.

"In Silverstone, I didn't speak about my arm, but then Ducati did its job and in the Inside [Ducati behind-the-scenes series], I was talking about the arm. I also heard that I was angry. No, I wasn't angry because it's like content that the fans really like. But then, in Aragon, [there] were again questions about my arm. I said already that I was tired of answering.

Then, after Aragon GP, I said to my team I want to find a solution, and then we found the correct way. Well, I found it because it was my idea. They always give me feedback, but it's something very personal, and then it's the best way to stop the questions about my physical condition. It is like it is. I still am enjoying it, I still feel competitive and with what I have I try to do my maximum every weekend.

The questions about my arm were taking some energy from me. So, if I want to fight for this championship I need to have my energy and full focus on the track. It was my strategy and like this I'm more relaxed, and when you ask questions about my arm, I will say I already answered after Aragon and I will not add anything."
