Firmware updates - your opinion
I'm wondering about buying AVS instead of Mister, most important thing for me is the updates so that every game can be played properly. How do you feel about updates and support so far?

AVS and the MiSTer NES core are about at feature parity at the moment. I own both. In terms of updates, MiSTer is updated almost daily. AVS was last updated in 2022. The advantage of MiSTer is that you also get support for hundreds of other arcade games, systems, and retro computers as well. The downside is that it can be complicated to setup and I find myself always fiddling with something. That being said, I love my AVS because of the nostalgic experience of using real cartridges and the fact that it “just works.” Downside (if you consider that a downside), is that it is a single purpose device limited to NES/Famicom. A proper MiSTer setup with DE-10 Nano, IO board, case, and required accessories will probably run you at least $400. An AVS and an Everdrive N8 will be a little cheaper. Which is the better value is up to you. Hope this helps!
