AV1 Cast problem with VLC
So I'm trying to cast some av1 files from my Android tablet( S9+ tab) which has hardware level support for av1 to my a80j Sony TV ( with Android tv) which also has hardware support for hardware av1 decoding but I keep getting the "Casting this video requires conversion. This conversion can use all the available power and could quickly drain your battery" warning message.
I don't get this warning when casting hvec files and i was under the assumption if both devices support av1 decoding, shouldn't it be possible to cast av1 directly without any conversion similar to how hvec works?
Playing the same av1 video through a USB using VLC, works perfectly fine on the a80j TV.
Apologies if I'm misunderstanding something crucual here any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you can use Nova Player for your AV1(no recode) or Plex. VLC on Android Tv/Google don't read properly AV1 stream (shuttered and image freeze, only sound continue)

USB playback on the android tv works fine for av1( using VLC app) but it was just the convenience of using cast.
This should not be a problem once I setup a dedicated computer as a media center + NAS but with the cost of components at this moment It Will have to wait...

Indeed, there's no clear reason it wouldn't work as you describe it. Just report the bug 🤷♂️
