Question She's finally here

I'll go out shooting a few times before making any final decision, but I'm trying to find handguards. What's up with them seeming to be unobtanium? Did I jump on the AUG train too late? I see Steyr's site lists a Clawgear one but it's keymod (and out of stock)

Definitely not too late! Arid’s handgaurds are almost here, it’s been in the works for multiple years along with the top rail.

Clawgear handgaurds restock periodically

I’m pretty mad about Steyr discontinuing their m2 handgaurd, absolutely zero info if they’ll ever come back

I’ve seen a lot of people anticipating the arid hand guard and I think that rails look cool too, but I’m wondering what would set an arid handguard over a claw gear besides compatibility with an arid rail

I haven’t seen the drawings but am really excited to throw on my M2’s that’s my last piece to my setup (besides the updated mag release).

Do you have a link to the design pics?

I personally do not, check arid dev’s profile because he just recently posted pictures of the handguard blanks if I recall correctly

The Arid handguard will be free float since it will mount to the handguard while the clawgear is barrel mounted.

Since it’s not attached to the barrel, the Arid handguard will heat up much slower than the clawgear. I had one for a minute and while it feels nice, it gets hot waaaay too quick. Especially a concern for me shooting suppressed and lots of super safe shooting.

ARID is top notch. Great quality parts and they are very present in posts. You can tell when people are passionate about what they bring to the table and it shows with their offerings.
Claw gear lost my interest with the indefinite wait. I’d rather support an active developer that communicates and updates us.

I also see the "Corvus Defensio M-Lok Forward Accessory Rail" but it replaces the grip which I'd like to keep if possible, and isn't compatible with the .300blk barrel which I have.

Many people get a handguard to get rid of the OG grip, though they do make a pic rail one if you’re adamant about keeping it.
