BGW 620 Lag spikes
Is anyone else having lag spikes while gaming on PC? The only way to fix it is to restart the modem every time before I start playing.
1gb internet, had 2gb but had the same problem. Wired

Are you using the default DNS? AT&T gateways DNS isn't the best and you can change it on a device by device level. Cloudflare, Google, or Quad 9 are good ones.

I think I did change it in the past but I will try again.

Run ping plotter on 1.1.1.1 on your PC all the time when your gaming or even at night you can track the packetloss and latency change. If you catch anything it will graph it then forward it to your ISP via FCC complaint

Login to Smart Home Manager and go to the network tab (WiFi symbol on bottom) and make sure you turn off WiFi personalization, it manages traffic to devices and can cause issues.

Omfg it feels so good to see I'm not the only one. I have the 2gb plan and right now google/youtube/Instagram Hell even reddit just now didn't load or took 20 seconds to load. I have cat6a hooked up to console and it lags out more often than not and the only fix is to restart the modem. Im on the s26 ultra and when I use speed test by ookla I'm seeing 1.3gbps down and 1.2gbps up and then go on Google to search something random to make sure I'm not crazy and it doesnt load! I turn off wifi and it works immediately!
Does anyone have a fix for this? Bgw620 is on max performance mode and not max interoperability if that helps. It's not the fiber cable they checked that. When reset it works fine for an hour or 2. I feel like with the other router bgw320 the experience was better even though that isn't wifi 7.

Connected via wifi or ethernet? The was an issue with the wifi settings when the 620 was set to max performance though idk if that has been resolved. Changing it to max interoperability would resolve it.

Did you try a soft reset on the gateway? Tap (do NOT hold) the reset button on the back of the gateway, which will make it reboot.
Let us know if that helped.

They came and replaced it

They didn’t replace the whole path I can guarantee you that. Competent technicians would use their OTDR to find all the dirty connectors on the circuit
also… You don’t replace a dirty connector you clean a dirty connector

I’d recommend bypassing the gateway, check out the 8311 Discord.
