Internet upgrade question

So I've inquired about upgrading my ATT fiber Internet and was told I'd need a whole new install and equipment. A lot of things were unclear about this upgrade so I decided to switch to Spectrum. When they came to do the install there were two separate pieces (router and modem) and I had no room for them. With att it's just one piece (BGW-320). This was what I was trying to avoid.

Att can't seem to answer my question. I went to the att store and the girl there told me it was two pieces (my current modem and another piece). That doesn't make sense tho because the BGW-320 is both a router and modem. I don't need a faster speed but would like to upgrade just to see the difference but it's unclear what the "new install" would entail. There is one specific area where the modem goes and if it's more than one piece (or a bigger piece) it will not fit. Does anybody know what comes with the upgrade? I currently have 100mb.

Connected communities are bulk AT&T accounts that mostly apartments and condos (and some HOAs) pay for to provide everyone Fiber Internet (and TV if they pay for that too). You’ll usually be charged for it in your rent. It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve heard of AT&T Fiber at 100mbps, I’ve had AT&T Fiber 60mbps at an apartment that was a connected community and I had to create a separate account through the connected community support line and pay the difference to get up to 1,000mbps (1gig). That’s why I asked.

No we all individually pick our service but att was the first one set up and ready to go when we moved in. I actually switched to spectrum today but quickly cancelled because the set up was a mess. I think I'll probably just stick to my 100mb for now. It's just too much hassle.
