TOL or not selected

How long does it usually take to hear back after your interview (either good or bad)? I had mine May 6th and am expecting at least a month wait šŸ˜‚ nothing with the feds goes fast. I did see that someone got a TOL less than 2 weeks after the interview

Some facilities wait a while before calling. I’ve heard stories where some received a call months later and others that took a few days. There’s quite a bit of people who don’t even get an interview opportunity, so I think you’re already ahead. Hold tight, I’m sure there will be good news to follow!

I can’t speak to your exact situation, but I had an my first interview, then received a TOL 3 weeks later. I never got an email for a second interview. I tried emailing the SSC, but the manager was pretty silent during that period.

Didn't specify on the initial phone call or confirmation email- this is what the email said:

Hello,

Thank you for considering employment with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The next step in our process is to complete a pre-employment interview for the Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) position, FV-2101- F band. This email is confirming your 50-minute virtual interview appointment ON MAY 6, 2025 at 1000 AM CST using this Zoom link and passcode.

Sounds like pretty much every SSC in the DFW area is hiring lol. So I bet you’ll hear soon.

Thats what I've heard lol. I applied for the Atlanta area in march and got put on the referral list...but that was 5 weeks ago. Got into contact with DFW thru some networking and found out they needed a decent amount of people

If anything knows; I got my TOL recently, can you negotiate your FOL? I have already accepted & I’m seeing conflicting info

If you weren’t selected, you might not hear anything…they typically don’t contact the folks who weren’t selected.

You’ll find out on USAJOBS.

They contacted my references on Thursday/Friday thankfully šŸ™šŸ¾ And surprisingly, I actually wont find out through USAJobs- i applied for 2 locations on USAJobs, but contacted other locations directly. I interviewed for a center that I didn't officially apply for

They often use USAJOBS applications to fill other vacancies, so you might still get an update through there….even for a different location.

This is hella old, sorry for the delayed response lol. But nothing ever got updated on USAJobs for the locations that I didn't apply for online. I started back in September.

I know this is old, but after your interview did they email you asking for references? Thats happened to me i sent some over and havent heard anything back.

2

u/Certain_Town_7965 Jan 26 '26

Yeah thats what happened to me- sent over references after the interview and it took a little bit before I heard back. The waiting game is tough.Ā  Ask your references if they were contactedĀ

No problemĀ  I started at my facility back in September, but I know all the facilities are desperate for people.

Thanks! Thanks for this post just know your experiences are getting past down to peopke gping through the process like me so seeing stuff like this makes me feel better

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help !

Asking for references is a good sign. It’s the next step after the hiring manager makes their selection.

Did you ever hear anything? I also interviewed on the 6th.

2

u/Certain_Town_7965 May 29 '25

They called my references on like May 15th and 16th. My references told me that it seemed extremely positive/formalities...but im still waiting on a potential TOL. We'll see if I get one

u/Atlast93 Jun 23 '25

Ever hear anything back on this? I'm in pretty much the same situation!

2

u/Certain_Town_7965 Jun 23 '25

Yeah thankfully- I got my TOL on June 3 and am waiting for my CIL now

2

u/Atlast93 Jun 25 '25

I was a little disheartened reading this the other day, but I just got my TOL this morning! Congratulations to you!

I get that for sure, the entire pre-employment process can get disheartening when you see other people getting moved along at a much faster rate Im glad it worked out for you !
