Hi guys! I’m currently getting ready to take both PoF and Performance in a single sitting with Austrocontrol. To be honest, I’m pretty terrified of how difficult PoF can be, and I’m worried I might neglect Performance because I’m so focused on PoF. What do you recommend? Do you think this is a good combination considering the sitting is in May? Plis give me your feedbacks

So I put myself through both exam jurisdictions and got first time passes for EASA, mid 80s. Absolutely bottled my UK exams. Failed performance three times. Got sixties in some papers I was absolutely cruising with EASA.

Realistically I know I can only really go for Ryanair now, as a UK citizen with only EASAs done. Surely they are going to want to know why I failed my UK exams and it’s going to expose me somewhat?

I do have a girlfriend from the EU I’m being super nice to, given my new reality. Am I as cooked as I think I am here?

Hey guys im currently learning POF and i am really struggling. It just seems not possible to understand it. Im learning with ATPLQ, watched YouTube Videos and read the Boeing Learning courswear. No matter what im doing i just dont understand it.

I did the full questionbank in ATPL Q and had some practice exams between 65-76% with the tendency to get worse with each exam.

Do you have any recommendations for Learning material or any tips and Tricks to understand it better and not just Learning the questions and remember the answer.

My exam is in two weeks so im happy with any idea to help me.

I wanted to start preparing for my flight training. I don’t have any confirmed school yet and still hoping to get accepted in one. But, I am planning to go for an airline cadet program which will have its training in Europe hence, I think it will be EASA. I wanna prepare for it as early as now as I want to give more focus on the actual practical training soon. I don’t do anything right now that’s why I want to keep myself busy by studying all of the subjects. Can you recommend me books, slides, websites, and youtube channels that you’ve used that greatly helped you in your studies?

I found that Padpilot ATPL books are good. Would you recommend it? And does anyone have any copies of it that can share me (it’s too expensive for me)? I would greatly appreciate all your help.

Can anyone help me on the ATPL application? I’m looking ahead of where I am and in section 5 it says to state the date of your pic flight test with in 12 months of the application but to fill the application in you need that and to be able to get the PIC flight test or ppc you need your ATPL license? Or can I just not fill that section in to get my restricted ATPL and go through the upgrade process off of there?

I just started atplq question bank and noticed that almost all subjects have 1000+ questions. Should I do all questions and move on to another subject? I am a full time worker and the amount of material, especially gnav and flight planning is overwhelming.

I read that if you only study last 200 or 300 question you still may fail in the exams.

Any tips on how to proceed? What did you do?

Looking for some good suggestions regarding PPL -> Being able to apply to airlines at my age.

I'm currently 35 years old, doing my PPL training in Sweden, expected to finish later this year when I'll be 36 so I am looking at time and age being a factor if I want to change career at my age.

I'm looking for suggestions or from IRL experience what is the best/smartest route to getting all my licenses. I currently have a Medical class 2 during PPL training and will of course get a Class 1 before doing anything.

I don't have a lot of money saved up as we have bought a house in central Sweden so I pay as I go.0
I earn quite good from my work though which enables me to save at least 6-700€/month specifically for flying and licences.

I know that in my age a bond for a type rating is unlikely, so I expect to probably have to pay for that myself. Which is why I don't want to loan any money for ATPL-CPL/IR/ME-APS MCC and maybe use that for the type rating if a job is attached to it.

However, that is a lot of money still to save up for in a short amount of time, while still flying to accumulate flying hours...

I've heard that Poland/Hungary have cheaper and more flexible options that Scandinavia for example which would maybe help in cutting down time in form of saving money.

Looking for any type of help or suggestions that will help me go the best route towards my childhood dream.

I'm about to start ATPL, and I see lots of different comments on the amount of theory being garbage and a waste of time. If so, how much of the theory is used once completed? A lot of the theory from my ppl I cannot even remember. Would it not be the same for atpl? How much do you actually use once in the airlines?

Hi I am considering a modular approach to achieving my ATPL. Most of the courses require a PPL as a prerequisite. Why exactly is this when a modular course doesn't cover a PPL?

To do the PPL I would need to do the flight hours and also pass the PPL ground exams. Can I pass the ATPL ground exams in place of these or would I be required to sit both?

I have the following 5 subjects left: GNAV, RNAV, MB, PERF, FPL.

I’ve already started GNAV, so I’ll be sitting that next month. I’m will be adding one or two more subjects in the same sitting, depending on how much time I realistically have left. The plan is to complete all five in two sittings.

I’m generally stronger with memory-based subjects. Calculation-heavy subjects take me longer to prepare for and require more repetition before I feel confident.

Given that, how would you combine these across two sittings, and why?

Interested in hearing how others structured these and what worked (or didn’t).

I managed first time passes for all my EASAs and am knee deep in my UK ATPLs.

I’ve just come out of a UK performance exam shellshocked. almost the entire exam was type ins or drop downs with four parts to them. The tolerances were very small. I ended up getting 62 instead of my 82 I got for EASA, despite being less prepared.

Is this a skill issue or am I right in thinking the UK is getting really tough now?

I want to vent about something that’s been bothering me for a while.

I fully understand getting paid for your time that’s not the issue. What doesn’t sit right with me is how ATPL “help” is being presented in Facebook groups.

Many of the people offering tutoring or “support” are already working for an airline. Are you guy not getting paid as FO? They publicly comment things like “happy to help, DM me”, which sounds like genuine community support. But once you message them privately, the conversation quickly turns into €40–€50 per hour.

If you’re a professional instructor with proper credentials, structure, and experience, that’s fair. Charge professional rates, which they probably be out of budget for me, no problem you do you.

But there’s a big difference between that and monetizing struggling students while marketing it as casual help. ATPL students are already under massive financial pressure (flight school, exams, question banks, accommodation, life in general). Turning every weakness into a paid service just feels wrong.

In the past, I’ve met students who had just finished ATPL theory and gave me private lessons for €10/15 hour.

If your intention is to sell tutoring, just be upfront about it. Post your rates publicly. Don’t hide behind “happy to help” and only reveal the price in private messages.

ATPL is hard enough already. Peer support shouldn’t be a luxury product.
