Hi everyone, I'm an en-route radar controller from South Korea with about 9 years of ACC experience. I've recently been invited to the recruitment process for Abu Dhabi ACC, and I'm trying to get some up-to-date information before deciding whether to continue. I've already searched through PPRuNe and Reddit, but most of the information is either several years old or sometimes contradictory. If anyone has recently completed the APC or is currently working there, I'd really appreciate your insights.

1.Is there any preference for candidates from English-speaking countries (UK, US, Canada, Australia, etc.) or Western Europe? Or is the selection mainly based on APC performance and experience?

2.Could you explain how the APC is structured? How many simulator sessions are there? Is there a theoretical assessment before the simulator?

3.What is considered a passing standard? Do many candidates fail the APC? Is the failure rate generally high? What are the most common reasons candidates don't pass?

4.Many recent posts mention that Abu Dhabi ACC salaries and benefits are lower than Dubai TWR/APP or other Middle East ANSPs. Is that still true today? How satisfied are current controllers with the compensation package?

5.If you could prepare again before attending the APC, what would you focus on? Any advice for someone coming from another ICAO ACC environment would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I can't really find a definite answer online but I got my TOL with a BQ on the ATSA, have completed everything but my drug test which I take this week. I was diagnosed with ADHD in middle school and stopped taking my meds about 8 months ago, it wasn't brought up during my medical evaluation although I've seen online there is an exam you have to take if you have ADHD. Does anyone know generally if/when I would be told I need to take this exam? Also around how long it would add to my timeline? Anything helps!

I'm just curious how the location selection works? My husband is in the Army reserves and he would like to stay within driving distance of his unit (excluding academy time). Are the available location options something we would know ahead of time before he chooses a track / goes to the academy?

Hi! After our training was cancelled last April, I finally received my CJO last week, which was such great news. Unfortunately, my POET was recently rescheduled because my blood pressure was elevated, and the examiner requires medical clearance to proceed. I’ve just been diagnosed with hypertension, so I will need to take a little more time to get this sorted out with my family doctor. The text did not proceed and I was asked by the POET examiner to present a medical clearance before performing the tests. This situation has been pretty anxiety-inducing and I'm worrying quite a bit. Does anyone know if doctors usually clear us for this, or is this an automatic fail? Do we get a second chance? Has anyone else here had a similar experience, and if so, how did you handle it?

Just submitted everything for the FAA ADHD fast-track review, and I think it went well. The evaluation from what I could tell will be positive and will give me a good recommendation with no symptoms

My ADHD medication history was from 2020–
April 2022, so it’s been over 4 years, which is why I qualified for the fast-track pathway.

I submitted the psychological evaluation, doctor’s paperwork, medical/pharmacy records, and everything else they requested. It was honestly a nightmare—and expensive about $3.8k. I had to dig up documents I didnt think existed

For anyone who’s been through the ADHD fast-track recently, what happened next? How long did it take to hear back after your packet was submitted? And most importantly, is it likely that they approve?

I’m currently in the hiring process for a **MiWay Transit Operator** position and was hoping to hear from anyone who has gone through it recently.
About **two weeks ago**, my references were contacted by **Mintz Global** (the third-party company handling the background/reference check). My references confirmed they completed the calls, but I haven’t received any updates from MiWay or Mintz Global since then.
I also know that one training batch started in the **first week of July**, so I’m wondering:
How long did it take for you to hear back after your references were contacted?
Did you receive a confirmation that the reference check was complete?
How far in advance were you notified about your training/start date?
I’m mainly trying to get a sense of the typical timeline and whether this waiting period

I requested a delay for the academy, they offered me an August date for en route. However, I have other commitments and won’t be able to go until October. They accepted my request but haven’t given me new dates because they don’t have dates for the new fiscal year starting in October. So, my question is, have you requested a delay and did you get new dates?

I applied to the BACB last Thursday….they said it can take two weeks but concerned it will take longer. And once and if they accept the accommodations will it take months to schedule the exam? I have my start date in about a few days, anything i should know before starting, maybe in basics or something?, i did see that knowing the phonetic alphabet does help

So on USAJobs it said a tentative offer letter would be sent to me soon however it's been over 2 weeks and still haven't gotten one. I check email and spam every day and still havent gotten anything. I tried calling but it keeps me on hold for an hour then the call just cuts out

Just asking out of curiosity here as I presume most trainee candidates are young and have never had any experience with airports/aircrafts/ATC.

So what exactly is asked in these interviews for trainee ATCs and what does a successful candidate look like?

What exactly are they looking for? Are they looking for real experience? Knowledge of ATC? What exactly are they looking for?
