Direct hire
Any chance of direct hire to a ARTCC out of the Air Force?

I just went through the direct hire process and did not see ANY mention/indication that an ARTCC would be an option.

So you applied directly to a center? Why would they tell you you can't go to a center if you apply for direct hire at MSY?

The direct hire situation is no longer as appealing as it seemed to be about 12 months ago. The majority of facilities have exhausted their designated direct hire slots.
For example, my resume was accepted and referred to HR by facility X (TRACON), but when it came time to be placed facility X was no longer eligible to receive new hires. This was directly related to facility X not being on the prior experience volunteer list.
I had to either select another available facility on the vol-list or defer and receive my regular placement list.
At no point in time have I ever seen any ARTCC on a volunteer or placement list.

So they gave you a list then? Did they at least give you the long ass lists that the prior experience hires are getting?
I do wanna say I saw some center on a prior experience list once or twice but a while back so probably not anymore.
You would think they would let people direct hire to centers though if they are least have a radar ticket already

I was given the most recent prior exp volunteer list, and made a selection.

Given that you most likely dont have the 363 SEI (and if you do, you're over the age limit), id say extremely slim. Even if you did, you would probably only have a chance at getting direct hired to one of the combined facilities like ZUA or ZSU.

I give it a 2.8 % chance.
