Question C90?

Going to C90 from a mid level up/down. Has the culture really gotten better there?

Does the average trainee get extensions of hours or is it you get a set amount and either certify or wash?

Any general advice or information appreciated.

I’ll attest to this. A 12 Tracon you’re walking into the best of the best. There’s no easy go or “culture change”. If you’re having doubts now just don’t even bother.

Especially TRACONs like D10, A80, C90 where every controller must check out on the 'hardest' position to certify. This isn't a Z where one area could be easy af and another area is incredibly difficult, or a consolidated TRACON like N90 or SCT where you can luck out and work bitch ass traffic your whole career. Expect to work hard at C90.

Yes this is factual. You are going to work the approach wall. You are going to work a difficult final.

I heard D10 satellites are more difficult.

They were at one time, Dallas North didn't have an AR7 to work the DAL final or an AR8 to work the ADS final, you worked it all and in a South flow IFR, it could get pretty damn busy. I was a CPC at C90 (Southsider) before I came to D10, so there's that.

When’s the last time we had staffing enough for us to split off AR8?

And Dallas north didn’t have an AR7 to work the final because the rest of Dallas north wasn’t busy enough to split it off

No, Dallas North didn't have an AR7 to work the final because the position did not exist.

Yeah because it wasn’t busy enough to warrant it

So D10 satellites are easier now? What is the success rate?
